Oblong stone in blue light, Dark Servant answering, 2950.
Noname was hastening to take cover from a sudden and unseasonal storm when he came across an overgrown (or
perhaps hidden!) path. Daring the unexpected opportunity as a welcome respite from the foul weather, he
followed the path, finding it to be both narrow and broken. After a brief but difficult trek, he was
relieved to enter the small, hidden cave found at the path's end. To his surprise, the cave provided not
only shelter from the weather but also an interesting discovery. In the center of the cave was an oblong
block of dark stone, engulfed in a faint transparent blue light that covered the entire surface. Upon the
stone lay something that did not shine, but attracted his attention nonetheless. The cave seemed almost to
be calling him. He couldn't tell what it was, and certainly the item there was a powerful artifact, he
thought, but how might one breach the possible protections?

New Riddle, 1000
"They say it was part of a man, and that it was for those who went by sea. Where once radiance, then it did wan leaving unending evening for all to see"
Sneaky, OK the trick is that in the first line, it's not part of a man; it's actually part of Aman. I believe this refers to
either a peak (Taniquetil) or a city/lighthouse in Aman that could be seen from Numenor. At the end of the Second Age,
Aman was moved beyond the sight of anyone in Middle Earth,
thus accounting for the last lines. Problem is I don't have
the actual name, let me check in this book.
If anyone gets the answer please let me know |
Barinax
A friend of mine recently recruited Bairanax by offering 100k gold. Bairanax did not take the gold, BTW. He (the friend) did have 100k to give, however, so maybe that has something to
do with it (its one of those games that is going way to long,
we have been reduced to screwing with all those interesting
encounters nobody has complete info on). |
Turukulon, DS answering "MEEK", 2950
"So sorry to disturb you, your eminence. I lost my way and I apologize for disturbing you," he said. Backing slowly toward the entrance, he continued, "I am really no one of any significance, but I must admit that you are the grandest and most powerful creature that I have ever laid eyes upon." When he was about to turn and exit (and count his blessings), the walls seemed to shake as sibilant words issued from the Dragon's mouth. "You may not leave just yet, little one. Your words have given me a most wondrous appetite!" Turukulon looked sneeringly down at the warrior before him. It would be fun to slaughter this puny warrior, he thought. Turukulon watched as the warrior launched an all out attack against what he believed to be the Dragon's weakest points. Suddenly, the warrior doubled over in pain as he was hit by spells of stunning force. Turukulon merely spoke a few words and his opponent fell to the ground gasping for breath and writhing in pain. "You had no chance," he whispered and a ball of fire enveloped his opponent's body. Turukulon turned slowly away and left the scene. The body of his enemy lay wracked and broken on the ground |
Mirror and skeleton encounter, Had by Dark Servant, 2950
No name had just bedded down for a good night's rest when his eyes were arrested by a soft glow emanating
from over the next hill. Deciding that he had better discover the source of this glow, he picked up his
belongings and made his way cautiously over the rise. As he drew closer, he noticed that the glow seemed to
be coming from a small cave set back into the hill. He entered the cave ready for anything but halted in
amazement when he entered the central chamber. Inside was a large dark mirror with constantly shifting
images of people, places, and ancient artifacts. It was from the mirror that the glow was emanating. Across
from the mirror stood a skeleton of a giant humanoid decked out in an assortment of intricately carved armor
and holding a giant sword in readiness. Finally, between the mirror and the skeleton was a stout door set
into the wall and fastened with a stout metal lock formed by an ancient craft. Should Noname

no repercussions and no one seemed to follow him. |
Gollum Army Encounter
"Yesterday, various troops reported seeing some sort of creature pacing our
movements but keeping out of our direct sight and that of the sun. He is
reported to be a quick little humanoid that appears somewhat misshapen and
warped. He as apparently sneaked into camp and stolen a few of the troop's
personal possessions. We have set several traps to see if we can catch the
little thief. Last night our traps were for naught. He seemed to be able
to find his way in the dark with absolutely no noise. Some of our food was
stolen and some personal possessions were apparently taken. I've asked all
of the troops and troop leaders to pay careful attention to see if they have
lost anything." As mentioned, Gollum got away with a good chunk of food. He appeared in one of the hexes between the Lonely Mountain and Mirkwood. Later, Jeff |
