ROUND THREE - 2001 SEASON MATCH REPORT

Unley Oval - 14th April 2001

By Chris Hisee

Another week another loss for the Double Blues. Without last year's club champion Bruce Lennon, 1997 Mageary Medallist Brodie Atkinson, 3 time state defender Mathhew Powell and recruit Paul Kennedy, the Blues went down by 14 points. It was a dissapointng result in Julian Burton's 150th match. Sturt played well for most of the first 3 quarters with Damian Squire, Tim Weatherald and others getting the ball out of the centre and some good defending. Unfortunately the defence often missed targets when coming out of the Eagles' forward line. The Eagles' kept missing their chances and Sturt managed to hold a slight lead up until 3 quarter time. In the 4th quarter the Blues went ahead by 4 points briely but the Eagles scored a few quick goals and were never headed from there.
