ROUND SIX OF 2001 SEASON MATCH REPORT

Norwood Oval - Friday Night - 5th May 2001

By Chris Hisee

The most hyped minor round match of the 2001 season has ended in an unfortunate loss for the Double Blues. Sturt started well with Damian Squire scoring a running goal within the first minute but soon after the match went goal for goal with neither team able to get a big lead. The backline performed well under constant pressure in the second half but the pathetic umpiring went a long way to beating the Blues with an 18-5 free kick count in the second half. Bruce Lennon was brilliant in the middle with 28 hard fought possessions and Toby Thurstans was brilliant at half back.
