ROUND 19 - STURT v NORWOOD - NORWOOD OVAL - 5/8/00

Sturt have broken the drought at Norwood Oval by easily accounting for the Redlegs at the Parade for the first time since 1986. Sturt kicked away in the second quarter and never looked back. Some great goals to Stephen White and others kept the Blues in front in the first quarter. It was a great way to celebrate the 150th game of Damian Squire and the 100th game of Mark Conway. As usual Tim Weatherald, Bruce Lennon and Damian Squire were superb in the centre with great back up from Jarrod Twitt, Andrew Whiteman and Matthew Powell. Stephen White was magnificent, battling injury still scored 7.2 and dominated up forward. The defence was tight and solid all day with Scott Robinson a great contributor along with Chris Thredgold. The Blues are now guaranteed of a finals spot and if West somehow demolish Port and Sturt blitz South they could make the top three, but it's not very likely. The Blues must prepare for this week's game but more importantly, achieve some finals success.
