Chemists are a great class with incredible versatility. In the early game, they can only use knives, but as the game progresses, guns become an option for them. The 3 super guns are great choices for their weaponry, the Blast, Blaze and Glacier guns. Their items, especially the X-Potion and Phoenix Downs are must haves for at least the early game. Still, in the late game, they are still incredible neccessities. Personally, the 2nd skill of many of my characters tends to be Item, in the case of a death, then many posess the ability to restore life, or even just cure an ailing member of the party. The fact that potions can also be thrown by the Chemist is another great idea which helps bolster their long range positions. On the downside, their stats are the minimum and their HP is always fairly low, but with their ranged abilities, that is usually not a problem for a new chemist. Chemists are a great neccessity to the game.
