Puddel
Identification: The puddel looks, and feels exactly like a puddle of water. They have a slight sweet odour, which is attractive to most living creatures, including (meta)humans. This odour is usually only detectable within a radius of 2-3 metres. Size ranges from a few centimetres to several metres in diameter.
Habitat: Anywhere wet. Some have been known to reside in cities.
Magic Capability: Innate.
Young: The puddel implants a single egg inside one of it's victims, the young hatches from the egg in 6 to 8 weeks, and begins to consume it's host from the inside. This process can take as long as 2 weeks, during which time the host is in agonizing pain. If the puddel is discovered within one week of hatching, the host may be saved with expert medical care.
Habits: The puddel usually lies in wait, sometimes with three or four others, somewhere secluded, and engulfs a victim that is of an unaugmented body size equal to, or less than it's own. It then secretes a poison which kills its' victim. It has been known to let several victims (especially those in groups) pass over it with no harm, usually taking the last one.
Range: Anywhere there is water.
Powers: Engulf, Concealment, Venom.
Weaknesses: Vulnerability (Fire)

The odour requires a perception roll, with a base target number of 4, modified by conditions (Strong wind, etc.), and by the beings' essence, if it is using the concealment power.
Remember, these are the average attributes of a puddel, use the Critter Size Table (SRII p.232) to vary the abilities.
