Azel

Azel is the young prince of Velthomer, one of the seven kingdoms of Grandbell. Like all the past princes of Velthomer, he is an expert at using fire magic. In his late teens, he is a classmate-- in the Royal School of Barhara-- and best friend of Rex, the second prince of Dozel, a neighboring kingdom also a part of Grandbell. He also has a long time friend, Tiltyu, the princess of Freege. His presonality greatly contrasts that of Tiltyu-- he is quiet and usually keeps his thoughts to himself. His older half-brother, Alvis, is the duke of Velthomer and loves him very much. But Azel doesn't feel comfortable around his brother because he always feels that Alvis is "scary".

Azel came into the world in a strange way. He is an illigitimate child of the past duke of Velthomer and one of his maids. The past duke of Velthomer was a violent drunk man that rarely preformed his required duties but always lured women into the night. Although he had a wife, Sigyun, and a son, Alvis, he had numerous affairs and no one knows exactly how many children he fathered. But Azel's mother was Sigyun's favorite maid, and without showing any signs of jealousy-- maybe because she was tired of her husband-- Sigyun adopted Azel and let his mother stay in the castle until she died two years later. Since then Sigyun has disappeared, the past duke of Velthomer passed away, and Alvis took his place. Although many of the other dukes in the Kingdom of Grandbell and even some of those in Velthomer refuse to accept Azel, Alvis has always protected his half-brother and raised him in a way fit for any prince.

For a long time he has loved Princess Eidin but thought that he is not good enough. But when he heard that Jungby was attacked, he knew that he had to go and try to save Eidin. Without asking for permission from Alvis, he decided to leave the Royal School of Barhara and go to Jungby as soon as possible. But Azel also thought that the enemy will be too strong for him because he is only a training magician. So he decided to take his favorite spell book, Fire, and convince his best friend Rex to go with him. But Azel only expected to be gone for only a short time, but......

That description above is very long..... Now I am tired from just writing that. (-_-) But I think I still have to write something down here. By the way, the above story about the birth of Azel is official information!! (if you trust my memory.... (^_^)). And if you don't trust my memory, you can find the real stuff in the Intelligent Systems Home Page (although it is in Japanese (^-^)). I will write Alvis' part of that story in his information. Anyways, I will keep this part short.

The most memorable thing about Azel..... I liked this character from the start (^_^). He is cute, I love his spell, Fire, and his later relation with Tiltyu is cute (^-^). The thing that kept me from putting him in the frontline too much was his low move ability (-_-). But that problem was solved when he became a Marge Knight, but by that time Levin was taking up everyone's place (^-^).

I didn't know about Tiltyu, but since I was determined to put Eidin with Midale, Azel was not able to talk to Eidin (^-^). In my mind the feelings that Azel had for Eidin was not nearly as deep as those he had unnoticed inside for Tiltyu. Azel was lucky that he did not choose Eidin (^_^). I have imagined many things about what Azel may have gone through after the tragedy in Barhara, so maybe I might write some stories about it (if I ever get the time......).
