Prologue: Birth Of A Holy Knight
The story starts out with Prince Kult of Barhara, who is the son of King Azmure of Grandbell, takes his army and all the dukes to invade Isaac, in response to their invasion of Fort Darna. This was unexpected because Grandbell and Isaac have been in peace with each other for a long time. Sigurd of Chalphy stays in the castle while his father is gone, but he feels that he has nothing to fear because there have been no threats from the other countries recently.
But Sigurd's assumption proves to be wrong. Unexpectedly, Prince Gandolf and his army from Verdane invade Grandbell, taking Jungby, which is closest to the boarder. There stayed Princess Eidin, along with only a few of the knights that stayed for her protection. The knights were easily defeated by Gandolf and his men, except for Midale, who is the strongest archer of Jungby. He puts up a good fight, but ends up being defeated. Gandolf leaves Grandbell after taking Eidin as his prisoner.
Sigurd hears about what had just happened and decides to gather the few knights that are left in the castle--Noishu, Alec, and Ardan--to go to Verdane to bring Eidin back. On his way to Jungby, Sigurd is joined by his younger sister, Ethlinn, her husband and Sigurd's best friend, Cuan, and their loyal knight, Finn. Also Azel of Velthomer and Rex of Dozel joins the group. Together they fight Demazio, who was left by Gandolf in Jungby, and easily take back the Castle of Jungby.
In the castle, Sigurd finds Midale struggling but still alive. Sigurd tries to stop him, but Midale joins the conquest to find and rescue Eidin. Alvis walks over to Sigurd, who is now on his way to Evans, which is in Verdane, and gives him the Silver Sword from Prince Kult. Sigurd recieves this with great honor. Alvis also tells him to take care of Azel, Alvis' half-brother, because he is still not a complete magician. In Evans is Gerald, who Midale defeats with his arrows. But Eidin is no where to be seen. A messanger from Prince Kult arrives to tell Sigurd that he has now been given the title "Holy Knight". With this uplift of pride, Sigurd continues deeper into Verdane to find Eidin....
