Women's Fancy Shawl

Women's Fancy represents the butterfly. This dance style has a story which was told to me by my friend, Valincia Herder. During the time the warriors went off to battle, there was a women who didn't want her husband to go off into battle so when he left she went into the tipi and there she morned and prayed for his safe return, and as she did this no one saw her for a long time. When the warriors returned her husband found a cacoon in the tipi and when his wife came out she was dressed in bright and beautiful colors. She dance with joy and happiness, and the people said that she danced like a butterfly.
