This prototype fighter was designed to be the
ultimate Confed heavy fighter, projected in order to
replace the Excalibur and Thunderbolt VII. In spite of
the great technology used in its developement, the
Bearcat pales next to the Black Lance Dragon with its
revolutionary matter/anti-matter power plant. The Bearcat is fast, manouvrable and probably the better dogfighter in the Fleet thanks to its Tachion cannons and many missiles; the cannons have a special auto-tracking feature which enables the pilot to hit the enemy with almost all his shots and the missiles are very handy, especially in a crowded dogfight, to even up the odds. In the hands of a good pilot the Bearcat can sustain a match also with the Dragon; however the Black Lance ship is far better than the Confed prototype. |
