WCP: Alien fighters and Capital ships.



Here is a list of the Alien fighters and capital ships I came across during WCP. Each ship has a brief description and possibly an image. Details were deduced from the game itself and may be incorrect. If you have information on any alien ship contact me.

ALIEN FIGHTERS




STINGRAY:



Stingray The Stingray is a medium fighter with an excellent manouvrability. Groups of 3 Stingrays can form a "cluster ship" which is slower, but can fire volleys of Plasma at a high rate, easily killing unsuspecting pilots in their crafts. If one of the Stingrays in the cluster is destroyed, the cluster splits up, but can reform if other Stingrays join the group.


MORAY:



Moray The Moray is the most common alien fighter. It's used especially for recon and escort. It's armed with 2 light cannons and has medium shields and armor. Its top speed is of about 420 kps.


MANTA:



Manta (with red bomber markings) This alien fighter has heavy guns, some nasty missiles and thick shields and armor. Two different versions of these fighter exist: one has balck/violet livery and it's a space-superiority craft, the other has red/black livery and can be employed as a bomber since it can carry one torpedo.


SQUID:

Squid The Squid really lives up to its code name. This seems to be a point defence fighter with characteristics similar to those of the Confed Wasp. It has got a set of four cannons, a top speed of 430 kps, but no afterburners. It can however boost up its speed to 2400 kps whenever the pilot wants, thanks to a propulsive action similar to that of a Squid.


RAY:


Ray with Remora drones This is a big slow moving craft with a number of smaller drones that circle around the main body. It carries a large load of weapons, including space mines. When the Ray's main craft is destroyed the Remora drones can fly away: these drones enjoy attacking you from the rear with their low power guns, escaping your fire at high speed, but are extremely weak and can be blown up with a single shot.


LAMPREY:


Lamprey This alien ship is not very common. Its purpose is still to be understood, but it appears to be a rather slow, very manouvrable craft, armed with a heavy gun.


SKATE CLASS B/T:


Skate Class B/T The Skate Class B is a cluster ship composed of a certain number of smaller Skate fighters. It carries one torpedo and has a rear turret for defence. Once the torpedo is fired the ship breaks up into smaller Skate units, which are fast, lightly defended and without any cap-ship attack capability. The Skate breaks up into smaller units even if it's targeted and destroyed before it can fire its torpedo. Unlike the Stingrays that can reform the cluster ship, the Skates once split can't reform the cluster vessel.


DEVIL RAY:


Devil Ray The Devil Ray fighter is similar in configuration to the Manta, but it's much more dangerous. It's the fastest alien fighter, capable of flying up to 630 kps and it's usually flown by alien aces: in their hands the Devil Ray is a real tough opponent even for the Confed Vampire fighter. This craft is also used for retrival missions, since it appears to be equipped with a tractor beam.



ALIEN CAPITAL SHIPS.




BARRACUDA (Corvette)


Barracuda (Corvette) This ship is fast and can mount a spirited anti-fighter action. It doesn't require torpedoes to be destroyed, but a big firepower might be useful to knock out quickly a Barracuda.


TRITON (Transport)


Triton (Transport) This transport requires torpedoes to be destroyed. Its defense is limited to four laser turrets.


ORCA (Destroyer)


Orca (Destroyer) The Orca class destroyers are usually assigned as escort for bigger cap-ships. Orcas are armed with both laser and missile turrets. Torpedoes are required to kill it.


HYDRA (Cruiser)


Hydra (Cruiser) Hydras are employed as fleet flagships by the aliens and are usually escorted by Orcas. This cruiser has full launch capabilities and must be attacked with torpedoes.


LEVIATHAN (Carrier)


Leviathan (Carrier) The standard alien carrier with launch capabilities. It's well defended from fighter strikes by many turrets and missile batteries. The shield generators create an impenetrable defence that protect the ship's bridge and engines; to blast a Leviathan is essential that the generators are put out of commission before any attempt to attack with torpedoes.


TIAMAT (Dreadnought)


Tiamat (Dreadnought) One of the biggest alien vessels. Its defenses are based on laser turrets and missiles launchers. The Tiamat can launch fighters as well as anti cap-ship missiles.


KRAKEN (Ship-Killer)


Kraken (Ship Killer) A huge alien ship armed with a massive Plasma weapon, the Kraken's only purpose is to wipe out with a single shot from its Plasma weapon an entire fleet. The downside of this weapon is that it requires a very long lock-on time before being able to fire.
