Instantly, he reacted to the appearance of the dragon. Lowering themselves closer to the ground, hoping to become less of a target, he prepared to chant a spell. Only a few moments ago he remembered walking through the woods, holding his wife's hand and laughing. Vile smells wafted through the air, causing him to sense danger was coming. Every muscle tensed, as he heard the beating of the dragon's wings. Yet he knew he could not stand idly by, gawking at the beast, but must jump into action. Only a few more seconds and the spell would have ready, but the dragon was too quick, letting loose a flame of intense heat. Unthinkingly, he covered his wife's body with his own, hoping to save her life as the fire hit his flesh, but he awoke. Many beads of sweat glistened off his forehead, as he realized it was a nightmare. Every breath he took was quick and shallow, but he forced himself to calm down, so as not to wake his wife. Looking to his side, he saw his love sleeping peacefully, and, as he drew her closer to him, he tried to forget the nightmare and go to sleep.
