Misty's Birthday Surprise

By: Kacie

Warning: This story is incredibly lame. I wrote it a long time ago, and I re-read it, and I really don't like it. But if you're a fan of Ash/Misty romances, you may enjoy it anyway....on to the story!

Ash, Misty, Pikachu, Togepi, and Brock were sitting in a grassy, nondescript area, feeling a little bit unexcited. Ever since Ash had made the Pokemon League about a month ago, the team had been very bored. Ash and Brock were about to fall asleep from boredom, when Misty stood up.

"I have an announcement to make!" She shouted so loudly the land shook.

"What? Did you finally clip your toenails?" asked Ash. "They were sure getting long...and nasty.

"Shut up, you $&!*#^$!!!" Misty yelled. "for your information, it's my birthday tomorrow, you idiot!"

"Really?" inquired Brock. "How old are you going to be?"

"14!" she said excitedly. "I've been waiting for this day for, like, the longest time!"

"Ha, ha, I'm older by 3 months," teased Ash.

"Why didn't you tell us it was your birthday 3 months ago?" Asked Brock.

"Well...I guess you could say I didn't want Misty to bash me on the head for being older," Ash said slowly.

"I wouldn't bash you on the head," said Misty. "I'd bash your entire body!"
"Pika Pika," said Pikachu (I bet you would)

"Toge Togepi," said Togepi (Well, who knows? I'm glad I wouldn't have been born long enough to have seen that!)

"So, anyway," said Brock, "what would you like for your birthday?"

"Um, I don't know," said Misty. "But get me something! That's why I told you about my birthday, of course!"

"All right, I'll think of something," Brock and Ash said together.

-----------------------------------------------

Later that day, when Misty was taking a nap, Ash went over to Brock.

"What are you going to get Misty?" Ash asked Brock.

"Um, I'm not sure," said Brock. "I'm thinking maybe something along the line of food. Homemade food."

"What a great idea!" said Ash. "I know she loves your cooking."

"What about you?" Brock questioned. "It's your turn."

"Well, I can't tell you exactly. But it will be a special gift, something very special," Ash said mysteriously.

"Wow, you must really care about her," said an astounded Brock.

"Not exactly," said Ash. "This is just going to get her out of my way."

"Aww, but you know you'd never be able to stop fighting with each other!" said Brock sympathetically.

"I doubt it," answered Ash. Then, he left to go to town without saying another word.

--------------------------------------------------------

Ash and Pikachu made their way to one of the best stores in the rather nondescript town they were in. Ash peered into the window. There it was. A beautiful, shiny new bike. It was what Misty had always wanted, and Ash would do anything to please her. He wouldn't admit it to anyone, but he had a serious crush on her.

"Pika Pikachu?" Pikachu asked him (What are you thinking about now?)

"Oh, nothing," Ash replied. He had known pikachu for so long that he usually understood it.

"Pika," Pikachu said knowingly (Yeah, right)

"All right," sighed Ash. "I'm thinking about Misty."

"Pikachu chu pika." (Understandable, since you're getting her a present)

"Right," said Ash, glad he had an excuse. "Let's go inside!"

"How may I help you, great Ash Ketchum?" asked the store worker. "It's not often we have a celebrity come into the store." Ash really was a celebrity, considering he was the youngest trainer to ever make it into the Pokemon league.

"I'd like that bike," Ash said. "The beautiful, red one."

"Why, I'd be more than happy to give that bike to you," said the worker. "In fact, I'll give you half price on it!"

"That would be wonderful," said Ash, giving him the money. "Thank you!"

"Please come again soon!" the store worker said as he left.

Ash and Pikachu rode the bike home. "This is going to be Misty's best birthday ever," he said to Pikachu.

"Pikachu Pika," Pikachu muttered to himself. (I wouldn't bet on it. Ash is forgetting one small formality about giving Misty a bike)

-------------------------------------------------------------

Late into the night, Misty woke up from hearing thunder. As she tried to fall back asleep, she couldn't get one thought out of her mind. She was afraid, afraid that someone would get her a bike. Misty had always promised she'd leave when she got her bike back. But the bike was really just an excuse. The real reason was that she loved Ash. But she figured that he'd do anything to have her go. With that incredible fear, she tossed and turned until she finally got back to sleep.

--------------------------------------

Brock brought out the cake. It was dinnertime the next day, and it was time for the celebration.

"Happy birthday to you, happy birthday to you, happy birthday dear Misty, happy birthday to you," Brock and Ash sang.

"All right Misty, blow out the candles!" Brock shouted.

Misty blew hard at the 14 candles. Amazingly, she blew them all out in one blow.

"Good job, Misty!" cried Ash. "Now you have to make a wish!"

So Misty did. She thought, I hope that Ash and I get together someday. It's all I want. "I'm done," she said. "You can cut the cake now, Brock."

Brock handed Misty, Ash, Pikachu, and Togepi cake.

"Brock, this cake is delicious!" Ash exclaimed.

"Yes, it is a wonderful present!" agreed Misty.

"Pika," Pikachu affirmed (It's great)

"Thanks everyone," Brock said proudly.

After everyone had finished eating the delicious cake, Brock said, "Now, it's time for your presents, Misty. I'll go first."

"Good, this is what I've been waiting for," she said nervously. She couldn't stop worrying about getting that bike.

"Here you go!" said Brock. He handed her a certificate, which said: 'This entitles Misty, Togepi, and Psyduck a year's supply of Brock's donuts. Enjoy!'

"Oh, thank you!" said Misty. "I'm so happy, I love your donuts!"

"Togepi!" said Togepi (me too!)

"Now, Mr. World Famous Pokemaster, I believe it is your turn," said Misty.

"OK," said Ash. "But to see you gift, you have to come to my tent!"

So Brock and Misty along with the Pokemon eagerly followed Ash. When they entered the tent, they saw that beautiful bike. "Here you are Misty!" said Ash, happily. "It's what you've always wanted, right?"

Misty was very upset. Her worst fears had come true. Now, she knew that she wasn't wanted. "So, I guess I'll be leaving tonight?" Misty asked him. "Since I have my bike and all."

"Leave?" asked Ash, surprised.

"Yeah, to start my own Pokemon journey," she said.

"Um, I guess so," said Ash.

"Then, I'll be leaving in a few hours, Ash," Misty said. Then she walked to her tent and started to cry.

-----------------------------------------------------

An hour later, a puffy eyed Ash walked over to Brock's tent, with Pikachu by his side. Brock was very surprised to see Ash so sad. "What's wrong?" he asked him.

"Brock, I need your advice," said Ash. "You're good at this stuff. How do you tell a girl that you like her?"

"Wow, you really do like Misty," Brock said. "I was just starting to doubt that theory."

"I guess I do," said Ash. "Will you help me?"

"Ash, the only thing you can do is tell her directly," said Brock. "Go tell her now. I think she likes you, too, so it shouldn't be difficult."

"Thanks Brock," Ash said. With all his courage, Ash stepped out of Brock's tent and toward Misty's.

------------------------------------------------------------

Misty was still crying when she heard someone at her tent door. "Come in," she managed to say in a fairly normal voice.

Ash entered and was surprised to see that Misty was crying. "Misty- I have something to tell you," he said.

Misty was suddenly alert and interested. "What is it?" she asked softly.

"Misty...I don't want you to leave," cried Ash. "I love you. I want you to stay with me."

"You- you do?" She said, surprised. "Then, why did you get me the bike?"

"I just wanted to make you happy," said Ash.

"Ash, you know what, I love you too," replied Misty. Then, she reached her arms out toward him. Ash took them as they embraced.

"Kiss me," said Ash. So she did. They continued to hug and kiss until Brock walked into the tent.

"I see you guys are together now," smiled Brock. "I'm so happy for you both!"

"Yes," Misty said. "You know what? This is the best birthday surprise of all."
