Directions for use for CAR - BLASTER Version 3.2
****************************************************
Description :
=============
This program provides all neccessary routines for changing the parameters of
'Stunts_1.0' - compatible cars.
Problem description :
=====================
An advanced driver often has the wish to tune an existing car - this function
is not provided by 'Stunts_1.0'.
This is also not possible with an ordinary text-editor, because in the
carfiles all characters of the character-set can be contained.
When saving it can happen that the characters which have not been recognized
by the editor will not be saved.
Mostly, the carfile will become unworkable through it.
There is also no possibility for comparing two cars.
Attributes of the program :
===========================
*) Editing of all power parameters.
*) Description of 122 out of 814 parameter-bytes (14,9 %).
*) Comparison of two cars.
System-requirements :
=====================
1.) MS-DOS (or compatible) - operating system
2.) VGA ( 640 * 480 ) or compatible graphic-card
(EGA-version also available)
3.) Thereto compatible screen
The program can be called directly from the DOS-command-line.
It requires no MS-Windows.
Installation :
==============
It is recommended to install the program and its configuration file 'CB.CFG'
in an own Stunts-Subdirectory - e.g. in \TOOLS.
In the batchfile CB.BAT the program call is adapted in a corresponding way.
This batchfile is installed in a directory, to where a path is set.
So the program can be called anytime with 'CB'.
Program calling :
=================
CB
Start-Logo - Options :
======================
Sound: < Sh-F5 > ... on < F5 > ...... off
Speed: < + > ....... increase < - > ....... decrease
(6 Steps)
Main-Menu - Options :
=====================
Self-explanatory.
File selection :
================
There are 2 possibilities for selecting a file :
1.) Direct-input of the name (without extension).
2.) Selection with scroll-lists :
* < C_Down > shows a list of all cars (without extension).
* < C_Up > and < C_Down > select the desired file.
* < Enter > confirms the selection.
* < Esc > returns to the direct input.
Car - Editor :
==============
100 Bytes of the file are shown in the section of the file.
Blue bars show the bytes of the car to change, red ones the bytes of the
comparative car.
The value is shown in pixels.
In the top left border the number of the currently chosen byte appears white
(counted from 1 in the decimal mode), over that the value of the car to change
appears blue, right beside it the name and value of the comparative car
appears red.
If a car has been modified since the last saving a '#' appears besides the
name of the car.
Below the display of these values there appears a Symbol for the currently
chosen scoll-mode (section or cursor).
Selection of the current byte :
-------------------------------
* < C_Left > and < C_Right > change the position by 1 to the left and
to the right.
* < Ctrl-C_Left > and < Ctrl-C_Right > change the postion by 10 to the
left and to the right.
* < Space > toggles between the 2 scroll-modes.
Marking function :
------------------
* < F5 > sets the beginning of the marking.
* < F6 > sets the end of the marking.
* < F8 > switches the marking off.
Modification of the current byte :
--------------------------------
* < C_Up > / < C_Down > increase/decrease the chosen byte by 1.
* < Pg_Up > / < Pg_Down > increase/decrease the chosen byte by 10.
* < Enter > sets the currently chosen byte to the value of the comparative
car.
* < BackSpace > resets the currently chosen byte to the original value
since the last saving of the car.
* < X > changes the ucrrently chosen byte with a random function.
When the cursor is positioned in a marked region, all bytes of the region
are changed in a corresponding way.
Comparing function :
--------------------
* < V > activates the comparing mode.
All elements of the car that differ from the comparative car are
displayed with a marking under the description line.
* < T > exchanges the car with the comparative car.
Other functions :
-----------------
* < h > (de-)activates the hexadecimal-mode for the position display.
* < H > (de-)activates the hexadecimal-mode for the value display.
* < F2 > saves the car directly.
* < F8 > loads a new car, which comes before the current car in the
alphabetical order.
* < F9 > loads a new car, which comes after the current car in the
alphabetical order.
* < Esc > returns to the main menu.
Functions of the input masks :
==============================
* < Ctrl-C > First edit line
* < Ctrl-R > Last edit line
* < Ctrl-Y > Delete all characters right beside the cursor
* < Ctrl-U > Restore edit line
* < Ctrl-Q > Cancel input and leave mask
Saving of the configuration file :
==================================
The 1st value of the start position is related to the screen position of the
cursor, the 2nd value represents the number of the invisible left bytes.
The configuration file 'CB.CFG' must be in the directory of the program.
(This is always guaranteed by saving from the program.)
