              Directions for use for SCORE - BLASTER Version 7.2
             ******************************************************

Description :
=============

 This program provides all neccessary routines for changing the names of the
 highscores of 'Stunts_1.0' - compatible tracks.

Problem description :
=====================

 Some people often wish to edit the names of the stuntmen in the highscore-
 tables.
 This is not possible with an ordinary text-editor, because in the highscore-
 tables all characters of the character-set can be contained.
 When saving it can happen that the characters which have not been recognized
 by the editor will not be saved.
 Mostly, the highscore-table will become unworkable through it.

 Furthermore, it is only heavily possible to erase unneccessary names, because
 then an empty line will have to be be inserted, which must have an exact
 format, too.

 The merging of tables (e.g. for actualizing an official table of a track in a
 game-community) is practically impossible, as, besides the technical problems
 called above, also the times of the individual records are represented
 encrypted, and the encryption-algorithm can only be cracked resp. applied
 with a very high effort.

Attributes of the program :
===========================

 *)  Editing of the stuntmen-names.
 *)  Erasing of highscores.
 *) Merging of an optional number of tables (total memory: 14 lines).
 *) Automatic actualising of scoretables from 2 directories.
 *) Automatic loading of a scoretable from the DOS-command-line.

 When editing all additional informations will be displayed as in the game.
 Even the time is displayed (not encrypted).

System-requirements :
=====================

 1.)  MS-DOS (or compatible) - operating system
 2.)  VGA  ( 640 * 480 )  or compatible graphic-card
      (EGA-version also available)
 3.)  Thereto compatible screen

 The program can be called directly from the DOS-command-line.
 It requires no MS-Windows.

Installation :
==============

 It is recommended to install the program and its configuration file 'SB.CFG'
 in an own Stunts-Subdirectory - e.g. in \TOOLS.

 In the batchfile SB.BAT the program call is adapted in a corresponding way.
 This batchfile is installed in a directory, to where a path is set.
 So the program can be called anytime with 'SB'.

 The feature of delivering the name of the table directly on calling, can be
 used by other programs, e.g. the Norton Commander.
 In this case the program has to be registered as an additional program.
 (In the case of the Norton Commander th line 'hig: sb !.!' has to be inserted
 in the extension file.)

Program calling :
=================

 SB [[.hig]]

 When the filename is given, the table is loaded automatically.

Start-Logo - Options :
======================

 Sound:              < Sh-F5 > ... on         < F5 > ...... off
 Speed:              < + > ....... increase   < - > ....... decrease
    (6 Steps)

Main-Menu - Options :
=====================

 self-explanatory.

File selection :
================

 There are 2 possibilities for selecting a file :

   1.) Direct-input of the name (without extension).

   2.) Selection with scroll-lists :

     *  < C_Up >  shows a list of the sub-directories of the current directory.
     -*  < C_Up >  and  < C_Down >  select the desired sub-directory,
         upper-directory ('..'), current directory ('.').
     -* < Enter > changes into the corresponding directory.
         If the current directory has been chosen, a list of all tables
         (without extension) appears.
     --*  < C_Up >  and  < C_Down >  select the desired file.
     --*  < Enter >  confirms the selection.
     --* < Esc > returns to the directory-list, which can also be left
     -*  with  < Esc > .
     * < C_Down > changes directly to the list of the tables.

      Directory- and filenames can be fast approached inside their scroll-list
      by the input of their leading character.

Score - Editor :
================

 If a table has been modified since the last saving a '#' appears besides the
 name of the table.

 The activated line is shown by the cursor.

 * For changing the name of the actual line immediately input the name.

 -* < Esc > restores the original name of the line currently being edited.

 * The cursor-keys select the current line of the table.

 * < Del > deletes the current line.

 *  < F2 >  saves the table directly.
 *  < F3 >  re-loads the table.
 * < F8 > loads a new table, which comes before the current table in the
            alphabetical order.
 * < F9 > loads a new table, which comes after the current table in the
            alphabetical order.

 * < Esc > returns to the main-menu, if no line is being edited at the
    moment.

Functions of the input masks :
==============================

 *  < Ctrl-C >  First edit line
 *  < Ctrl-R >  Last edit line

 * < Ctrl-Y > Delete all characters right beside the cursor

 *  < Ctrl-U >  Restore edit line

 *  < Ctrl-Q >  Cancel input and leave mask

Saving of the configuration file :
==================================

 The configuration file 'SB.CFG' must be in the directory of the program.
 (This is always guaranteed by saving from the program.)
