Directions for use for SCORE - VIEWER Version 1.2
*****************************************************
Description :
=============
This Programm shows the highscore-tables of 'Stunts_1.0' - compatible tracks.
Problem description :
=====================
When there are a lot of tracks the different highscores become soon difficult
to overlook.
The desire of a quick overlook of the highscores arises.
In 'Stunts' only the first place is shown when loading a track.
The quickest possibility for watching the whole table is the loading of a
track followed by a short driving with crash. Then the switching to the table
is possible. This had to be done for each track.
The QuickView-Mode of the Norton-Commander is very suitable for automatically
displaying the files which can be selected in each directory by scrolling.
However, the normal text viewer is not suitable in this case, because only the
first place is shown through a missing line break.
Furthermore, the times of the individual scores are only presented encrypted.
Attributes of the program :
===========================
*) From the DOS-Command-line : Display of the highscores of a track in the
same way as in the ScoreBlaster.
*) Automatic display of the highscores in the View- and QuickView-Mode of the
Norton Commander (up to Ver. 5.x).
*) Automatic formatting of the output in relation to the size of the
QuickView-Window.
*) Optional printout of the Highscore-table in the DOS- and View-Mode.
System-requirements :
=====================
1.) MS-DOS (or compatible) - operating system
2.) Graphic-card with text mode 80*25 or 80*50
3.) Thereto compatible screen
4.) Optional : Printer on LPT1
The program can be called directly from the DOS-command-line.
It requires no MS-Windows.
Installation :
==============
To enable the use of the QuickView-Mode the file must be installed in
the directory of the Norton Commander.
Then the ScoreViewer must be specified as a viewer of the <*.hig> - files.
The lines in the file that has been delivered with the ScoreViewer
must be inserted in the corresponding sections of the file in the
directory of the Norton Commander.
When using Norton Commander 5.x the filters must be configured manually in the
specific menu.
Program calling :
=================
SV [.hig] , SV -p
When the extension <.hig> is also given, the program automatically starts in
the NC-mode.
Without extension, the program is started in the DOS-Command-line -mode and
the display is analogue to the ScoreBlaster.
When the DOS-Mode is started with the parameter -p, the table is automatically
printed out in addition.
When the view-mode of the Norton Commander is activated on a highscore-file
with < F3 > , the display is analogue to the ScoreBlaster and the printing
out can be activated with < P > .
