M'Kiy-ehl and I went to join the others, and headed towards the mountain that would become our new home. The base of the mountain was beautiful from this great distance. The mountain itself was not so big, maybe 300 spans high. It was shaped like an upside-down teacup, with a rounded top. Grass and flowers covered the mountain like a sheet. The area surrounding the mountain was magnificent. The grass that we were walking through was up to our knees. It was a lovely shade of purple but it was a soft grass, almost as soft as a feather. In the distance, I could see fields of flowers surround the mountain on right side. The flowers swayed in the breeze, as did the grass. Right at the base of Mount Ve'red, as we later named it, was a strong brook. This brook broke up the field of flowers, growing wider and stronger in the distance. To the left of the mountain was a forest of tall trees. The forest seemed to stretch as far as the eye could see. Once again, it had thousands of those unique trees with the heart-shaped leaves that hung down like vines. What was most unusual was the flat surface in front of Mt. Ve'red. M'Kiy-ehl had picked this place where we could carve into the mountain if we wanted to. There were also many tunnels in this mountain, so that would help with the carving. The plan was that we would build on the surface, but have the underground cavern just in case. (I think that M'Kiy-ehl was worried about To-rahves.) It seemed strange that some of us would live on the surface, but this world is so adaptable to us, that it seems a shame not to.

As we approached the others, a group of people came to welcome me. It felt great to be among my own people after so long. The men had begun building houses near the base of the mountain. I guessed that there must be at least 150 men here, in addition to the women and the few children. How had M'Kiy-ehl done this? I had barely managed to escape, and yet, here were D'ni survivors. Some of the women who came were old friends. Now I was happy and peaceful. Everyone stopped working when M'Kiy-ehl and I grew near. It was obvious that they had chosen M'Kiy-ehl as their leader. They looked up to him, and admired him.

As everyone gathered around M'Kiy-ehl began to speak. He told the others of my misfortune with To-rahves. He started to assign different men guard duty. Now I knew that M'Kiy-ehl considered him a threat.

I am a lousy speller. If you notice any spelling or grammatical errors, please let me know. Thank you.
