Level 19: Frustrate Retaliation
Your commandos start together behind a large outcropping of rock, on the west bank of the river. Their starting location isn't exactly secure, so the first thing you should do is have them all fall to the prone position. Before you send the Green Beret out to do some killing, keep an eye on the single patrolling guard to the left. Use the Sniper to kill him right when he passes by that rock; you'll get him out of the way, and nobody will see his body. When he's dead, you'll have a little room to maneuver. From there, have the Green Beret crawl west to the rock (don't mind the body), plant his noise maker, and then crawl back to the other commandos. Have the Sapper crawl over, place the man trap just before the noise maker, and then crawl back to the right as well. If everything's positioned correctly, activating the noise maker should cause another guard to come over and investigate; he'll get killed by the man trap and his body will remain hidden behind the rock with the other one. Once he's dead, have the Green Beret and Sapper crawl back over and retrieve their items. Remember to remain absolutely stealthy, crawling all the way. This is one place you don't want to sound the alarm; there's a Panzer tank in the shack just south of you, and it will roll out at the first sign of trouble.
Your greatest threat right now is a single guard on top of a small roof to the southwest. With his higher vantage point, he can see almost everywhere, making it impossible for you to leave the safety of the rocks and kill more guards. Have the Sniper crawl out and position himself so he has a clear line of sight to the guard on the roof. Now, don't just shoot him and think that's it. His position is being watched by about six other guards to the south and east of him, so use multiple cameras to keep track of all of them. when they're all turned away from the roof, take the shot. If you timed it right, the guard will go down and his friends will be none the wiser. Have the Sniper go back to the safety of the rocks. With that nosy roof-bound guard out of the way, you can breathe a sigh of relief. Taking out most of the surrounding guards is a piece of cake. Just use the combination of the noise maker and man trap to kill most of them, and have the Green Beret take out the rest of them with his knife. Thankfully, those coal cars obscure the view of the guards on the southern end, so you can use that to your advantage as well. Your goal is to kill every guard to the left of the empty coal car first, including the one manning the machine gun, and then fan out and kill the rest. While extremely time consuming, killing most of the guards will allow you to cross the river unharmed and operate safely on the other side. Don't bother trying to kill the patrols of multiple guards, though: just avoid them.
Now, before you can cross the tracks, you'll first need to deal with the German soldiers on the other side of the river. Have the Marine crawl all the way east, avoiding the guards and their damn German Shepherd, to the water's edge. The mission briefing is misleading: sure the river's current is strong, but it won't just carry you along and kill anyone who enters. The Marine can get in the water and swim all the way south, landing on the eastern side of the river. You need to have him kill any guards that might see your other commandos come over the river. In your immediate vicinity are several guards: a stationary one at a machine gun, to the north; a single guard who patrols a few feet back and fort, also to the north; a semi-hidden guard to the north of a rock; a clueless guard over to the east, facing into the rocks; and a couple of patrolling guards and their dog, to the east. Your greatest danger over here, believe it or not, is from the large group of patrolling guards on the other side of the river. If they see you, they'll open fire and sound the alarm. But if you stay out of view of them, this part of the mission is a piece of cake. Just use the blowgun to kill the guards from behind, taking advantage of the masking capabilities of the terrain. When all those guys (yes, and the dog) are dead, head back into the water. Swim all the way north to the rowboat, and just wait there.
Before your other commandos can cross the river, there's one more threat that must be neutralized -- a single guard at the other end of the railroad tracks. Have the Sniper crawl east to the water's edge, avoiding the patrol of guards. If he gets in the right position, the Sniper can shoot that guard when he's at the northernmost point of his short patrol, and the body will fall where nobody can see it. With him out of the way, the Sapper, Green Beret, and Sniper can cross over the bridge. There's only room for one in the coal car, so just have everyone run across the tracks. Once they're over, pile into that house to the north and take a little breather. When you're ready, have the Green Beret crawl southward and kill the patrolling guards with the knife, hiding their bodies behind the large rock outcropping. You'll notice that inside the camp is a German Shepherd in a pen; if he sees you, he'll start barking and alert the guards inside the camp to your presence. This may actually work in your favor. When they come out, kill them from behind and throw their bodies behind the rock with the others. Once the dog has outlived its usefulness, have the Sniper sneak around and use the rifle to stop that barking forever.
The next thing you want to do is have the Green Beret enter the compound. The front gate is being watched by about three guards, so it's best to take a less direct route. Position the Green Beret to the south of the small piece of white wall. When the coast is clear, have him climb up and then down the other side into the compound, and run over to the south side of the dog pen. Drop prone, and you should be free from view. When no one is watching, get up, run to the left, and kill the guard by the conveyor belt control. Bring his body back to the southern end of the dog pen and then hit the dirt. Repeat the process to kill that other guard to your left. Using this area as a base, work your way clockwise through the camp, killing all the soldiers...always making sure to hide their bodies so you avoid raising the alarm.
The next step is to have the Sapper enter and place his charges. Don't bother with the conveyor belt -- just have the Green Beret clear out the main gate so he can get in that way. You have two bombs and there are three rockets, so here's what you should do. Have the Sapper sneak around and plant a bomb to the left of the guard tower. Then, have him go back into the camp and set the other bomb between the rightmost V2 rocket and the enemy barracks. Use the Marine to position the barrels next to the other two rockets. When everyone is safely outside the compound, have the Sapper flick the switch. The guard tower, one of the barracks, and one of the rockets will all explode. Have the Sniper shoot the barrels through the fence and destroy the other two rockets. While the remaining guards are running around wondering what the hell just happened, have all your commandos pile into the rowboat and the mission will end.
