Grim Fandango
You start in Manny’s office. Take a look at the tube. Then open it and take out the message from Don Copal telling you there’s been a poisoning. grim00.jpg - 11837 BytesPick up the deck of cards on the table on the other side of the room and leave the office. Talk to Eva, the secretary. Ask her all questions. After that, go into the left elevator and go down to the garage. Go left and towards the back, to the workshop. Knock on the door and Glottis comes out. Talk to him and ask him if he will be your driver. Tell him it's not his fault, and the cars are just too small. He agrees, but needs a work order. You need to get it signed. So go back upstairs. Talk to Eva. She will ask Mr. Copal to sign it, but he doesn't want to...
Use the other elevator and go downstairs. Turn left and head towards the large double doors. Open them up and exit to the street. Walk down the stairs and make a left. Make a left down the alley. grim01.jpg - 7861 BytesWalk on towards the colorful rope and climb up. Climb in Don’s window. There, take a look at his computer. He hooked up his answering machine on the computer. Change the setting to "Ah, cripes Eva! Just sign it yourself, will ya! I'm busy." Now climb back out the window and down the rope. Then go back to Eva's desk and get the work order signed. Now Glottis drives Manny to the Land of the Living. Look at the bag that is wiggling before you. Use your scythe on the bag. Manny takes a swing at the bag and rips it open. Watch the cutscene.
After that, go down the hall and notice that Dom's office door is now open. Let's go have a little chat. Enter the office. Dom is punching a bag. Look around a bit in the office and especially notice his 'red' mail tube. Also take a look at the desk drawers. Now go back downstairs and take the office building elevator (front one). Downstairs, a large, purple maintenance 'man' come storming out and confronts you. When he is done talking, go back to where he came from and enter the room (this is the Communications room). Pick up the fire extinguisher. Take a look in the mail center and check the door. You'll see it's locked. Now, first go outside and check out the parade (go back to the big double doors and exit).
Walk down the stairs, make a left, and head towards the clown in the distance. Talk to the clown. He tells you he’s practicing. Ask him to make you two worms, and a cat. Then get some bread from the tent next door and go back to the building. Make a right once inside and enter the packaging room. Use one balloon on the blue hose and the other on the red. Now go back to your office and go over to the mail tube. Put both packing material filled balloon in the tube. After that, go back to the communications room. The large purple guy is now repairing your handy work. grim02.jpg - 10614 BytesWalk over to the open door and set the dead bolt to allow access later on. Talk to the maintenance guy. He ends the conversation after a while, so leave. As soon as you leave, he does too. Now go back in. and look at the red tube. Put a playing card in the slot. It gets sucked in unfortunately because there is too much air pressure. Go back to Eva’s desk and punch some holes in the card, with the hole puncher on her desk. Go back to the Communications Room and put the card in the slot. Voila. You just got Dom’s messages and a new client, Mercedes (Meche) Colomar. In your office you talk to her. After the talkings, go to Mr. Copal’s office. He will call for you. You are kicked out and locked in the workshop. You suddenly find yourself standing in Glottis’ workshop. Look at the fil-a-dent machine. Knock on the door and a voice will speak to you. Tell the guard you want to make things straight out and want to blow the lid out of here. You will be released.
After the cutscene, talk to Sal and to Eva. Tell them you will cooperate and get them some pigeon eggs. Exit the LSA, through the open doorway. In the alley, climb the rope again. Turn around and turn the corner. Enter Dom’s office through the window. In there, open the desk drawer. Take the green coral. grim03.jpg - 12090 BytesGive the punching bag a few whacks and the mouth piece will fall on the floor. Take it and exit to the rope. Pick up the dangling part of the rope. Take the green coral from the inventory and use it with the rope to make a perfect grappling hook. He will now throw the rope and you can cross to the other side. Climb the fire escape and find yourself on the roof. Head towards the pigeons. Notice the bowl like thing. Put the cat balloon in it and sprinkle the bread. Look out, here come the pigeons. When they get to the bottom of the bowl the balloon will pop scaring them all away. Now head over to the eggs and grab a couple. Go back to the L.S.A HQ. Give the eggs to Sal. Now you need to get Eva your teeth, so go back to the workshop. Put the mouth piece in the machine and it will fill with the gunk. Put it in your mouth to make a mold. Take this back to Eva. Now Sal will bring you to the Petrified Forest.
Turn around and exit the screen. Glottis is here crying over being fired. He irrationally rips his heart out and throws it over his shoulder. He quickly collapses. Head in the direction he threw it. You’ll find it stuck in a spider web. Go to the pile of bones on the other side of the spider web. Pick up as many bones as you can. Throw one of the bones into the spider's web. Take four bones with you. Use your scythe on the bone in the web. Now the heart is shoot out. Go back to Glottis and pick up the heart; use it on Glottis and he will be revived. After the cutscene you are in the bone wagon. Get out and check out the directional sign. Try to pick it up and put it in the ground again. It will spin around quickly. Head toward the opening to the right. You will come at the Tree Farm. Look at the large mechanical tree and look at the wheelbarrow full of rocks. Also look at the control panel and flip the switch. Glottis will climb the tree. While he’s up there flip the switch again. grim04.jpg - 14210 BytesNotice the four pumps on the tree. The object here is to get the two on the left in sync and the two on the right in sync with each other yet opposite the pumps on the other side of the tree... Move the wheelbarrow over the tubes providing air. Keep moving them until the pumps are in sync. Then pull the switch, Glottis will go up and when he is there, use the switch again... He will be swung down with the parts you need. Then drive back to the sign post. Get out and pick it up. Walk one screen to the upper-left. There are many openings leading no where. Plant the sign in the ground and it will spin again. Pick it up again and put it in the spot it was pointing at. Go on until you end up in the darker point in the middle of the screen. When you put the sign in there, an opening will appear in the ground. Go down with Glottis. A little further there is a key hanging on a sign. Read the sign and get the key. Then leave to the upper right side of the screen.
You will come at the Beaver Dam. Try using the key on the padlock. It won’t let you open yet, so head toward the door and open it. Go inside, Glottis will try to stop you, but just go in. Go left through the opening and stand under the ledge. Throw a bone into the lava river. A beaver will jump in after it. As soon as you throw the bone pull out your fire extinguisher. When the beaver screams, fire the extinguisher and he’ll be gone... Do this three more times (if you need more bones, go back to the spider place and get some) and the dam is now clear. Go back to the padlock. Try using the key on the gate now. grim05.jpg - 17918 BytesGlottis is needed and soon you are driving over the dam. After a cutscene, you will find yourself in the foggy port town of Rubacava. Climb up the stairway and head for the far side of the screen. Enter the building and talk to the man, Mr Flores, who is mopping the floor. After that, go back outside and down the stairs. At the bottom go to the right (Manny’s left). You fall off a cliff. But, now wory, dockmaster Velasco saves you. He will go down stairs to talk to Glottis. Follow him and talk to Velasco. Show him the picture of Mrs. Flores, that Mr. Flores gave you. He tells you that she has sailed away with another man and he gives you his log book to prove it. Go show this to Mr. Flores. A cutscene follows...
