Appearance

Umbra has the general form of a normal human, but his one good eye is glowing red and his skin is smooth black - so black that it seems to absorb light. Umbra has learned to disguise himself with latex masks, gloves and clothing, but this disguise is really only good in poor light or at a distance.

Origin

Umbra has no real memory of his past, beyond awakening in an alleyway in his current form. He doesn't even know if he is human or not, although he retains memories of contemporary society, and occasionally gets flashbacks of what he guesses is his former life. His greatest fear is one day to find that his memories were also absorbed from someone else - but despite this he continues to hunt evidence of his past.

Notes

Umbra must feed on lifeforce to survive, and his ability to absorb lifeforce enables him to become tougher, faster, stronger - in fact, a deadly predator. Even without this, his body is abnormally resistant to damage However, without draining lifeforce he will slowly sink into a coma and die. Thus, despite the powers he gains, he regards his feeding as a curse. Without an official identity, or any means to support himself he has become a vigilante. He nourishes his body on the lifeforce of criminals, and his lifestyle on their cash.
