Notes
Cheung Yee (Johnny) Lee is a foundling adopted according
to the ancient traditions into the Ruby Tiger clan, of
ancient days practioners of the art of An Ch'i. Orphans and
children the surrounding peasantry could not support were
often left in the forest, where they were found and raised
by the Ruby Tiger clan. The forest is long gone but the old
clan house still stands, surrounded by the sordid factories
of Guilin. Although it now functions as a more conventional
orphanage, those children left there are still taught An
Ch'i if their talents merit it. Trained in the old ways,
Cheung Lee proved from the very first to be a fighter of
exceptional ability. Again, in accordance with old
traditions, when he reached puberty, Cheung was formally
adopted into the Honourable Crane Society - one of the Tongs
that dominates river trade-related crime in the province of
Guilin. Since time immemorial the Ruby Tigers have supplied
their strongest pupils to the Honourable Societies - in an
exchange of mutual profit. Despite his relative youth,
Cheung rose to be one of the best fighters and spies the
Honourable Cranes can remember, before being exiled as
result of a Tong War.
Appearance: Johnny is 18, with black hair, cut short at
the back and slightly longer at the front, to curl over
sparkling dark eyes. He has a ready, broad smile. While not
heavily built, he is obviously in prime shape, with strongly
whipcord arms and legs. His shoulders in particular are over
muscled, giving him a broad-chested look he likes to show
off in muscle shirts and tight stretch jeans. His most
distinctive feature though, is two brightly coloured Tiger
tattoos that wrap around his arms - the mark of the Ruby
Tigers.
Identifying Quote: "Hi. I'm Cheung Yee Lee, but you can
call me Johnny. And was that cool or what?".
Notes: Johnny fights Ruby Tiger An Ch'i, a technique
distinguished by vigorous movement. Fighters of this
technique flip and jump their way through combat, striking
out with both arms and legs. Characteristics of the style
include simultaneous attacks on multiple opponents, or rapid
strikes against against single opponents, combined with
"dirty" blows designed to incapacitate opponents and that
staple of An Ch'i - missile weapons. Johnny always carries a
variety of innoccuous objects - keys, coins, cigarette
lighter, playing cards etc, that in his hands can become
deadly weapons. Modern practitioners of An Ch'i have
included fireams in their training, and Johnny is an
excellent shot. Generally Johnny disdains the use of
fireams, unless firepower is really needed, preferring to
carry long throwing darts or knives.
