"I'm so sorry Naomi, this is all my fault..." Rune breathed, barely audible. "Sorry about what silly? That you forgot it was our anniversary today?" The memories had overcome him -- Rune was reliving his past. "Wha!? Uh...right, but I swear I didn't forget this time!" "It's alright, I know that you can be so forgetful, what with all these people relying on you. But that's okay." The girl giggled and ran off into the tranquil, sunny fields surrounding Koketsu's borders. "Come on Rune! Don't be a bore! Come and get me!" A tad embarrased, Rune set his sword down and took after her. "I must be insane..." he thought to himself. "...to be this crazy about a girl." The two ran together for what seemed like hours, laughing and pushing eachother playfully. Rune couldn't even remember any time he had been so happy, and so content with any one person. Naomi ran out of breath and collapsed to the ground to rest, still laughing. Trying to catch breaths between the fatigue from running so far, and laughing so hard, Rune followed suit and looked over at this girl. How beautiful she looked to him, like an angel fallen from heaven. Her hair, long and walnut colored, but finely combed and set into a pony-tail, held in place by a pair of laquered chopsticks. Her eyes were as blue as the ocean...no, more deep than any ocean could be. Sometimes he had thought that they would swallow him whole. Around her body she wore a fine silken shirt, which was fastned around the backside by lace strings, and came down to her midriff area. She wore a brightly colored skirt, which clung to her waist, holstered up by a make-shift belt crafted from jade. She wore bracelets from her ankles which Rune had become accustomed to listening for whenever he was looking for her, or when she would sneak up on him. "What is it Rune? You look sad..." Rune chuckled to himself. "I'm not sad Naomi, I never could have been happier in my whole life." A smile stretched across Rune's face, and he let out a very contented sigh. "Naomi?" "What is it Rune?" "There's...well, there's something I want to tell you." "You know you can tell me anything Rune, what is it?"
Rune had re-entered his true reality. "I love you Naomi." he said aloud. "Today's our anniversary, I've never forgotten since that day. That was the day you told me..." Rune looked up at the brilliant stars for a moment, and put out the fire. "...that was the day you told me, that you loved me, too." He took a deep breath, filling his lungs with the cool night air and leaned himself up against a tree trunk to sleep. Quickly, the fatigue of a long day overcame him and he was fast asleep. While he slept however, a figure was watching him from the shadows. "Poor thing, he's just so hung up on that idiot girl. But that's alright with me. After all, it makes controlling him that much easier." The goddess chortled to herself. "My chosen one..." she said, taking one last the slumbering warrior. With that, she dissapeared.
