The Gritty Detective

The Gritty Detective is more a brawler than a fighter, but he's remarkably hard to put away for good - as many a crime boss can testify. Tough as nails and dedicated to his one man crusade on crime, the Gritty Detective operates on the margins of the law. The cops know him and tolerate his activities - either out of sympathy for his aims, or because they haven't got enough evidence to put him away yet. While honest - and a sucker for a damsel in distress, the Gritty Detective is taciturn, cynical and smart-mouthed. He knows that everything and everybody is for sale - except himself. He can also make a pretty good guess at the price. While no combat machine, the Gritty Detective can survive being thrown out of speeding cars, run down, stabbed, beaten up, eating in grubby restaurants, etc., etc. He's a lot tougher than he looks.
