Poison Adder was once the junior physician for a eunuch
who was a member of the White Lotus cult. However, he was
also learned in the dangerous effects of herbs and potions.
As a player in court intrigue, he was a skilful dissembler,
sly and quiet and his master's enemies would suffer
illnesses or even death if Poison Adder could get access to
their kitchens. However that career ended when his master -
and a number of Poison Adder's other associates - were
killed by the daughter of a man they had caused to be
executed. With their deaths, a variety of his illegal
schemes came to light and Poison Adder had to flee for his
life. His rough and dangerous life since then has honed his
martial arts skills, but erased any courtly graces he once
had. These days Poison Adder makes his living by a mixture
of thievery and bounty-hunting, with a little free-lance
poisoning thrown in on the side. He has worked for the
cultists of the Red Banner before, although he is not part
of - or trusted by - that group.

In appearance Poison Adder is thin but wiry. His face is
wrinkled from his perpetual worrying and scowling although
he is not yet middle-aged. His thinning hair is usually
hidden by a turban or soft floppy hat, and he has a thin,
drooping mustache. He has the sort of face people
instinctively associate with a weaselly nature - and this
association is the only thing honest about him.
Poison Adder is a dangerous foe. Not only is he a
powerful martial artist, but he is still a master of poisons
and potions. A common trick of his is to hold a bag of
powder between his teeth and spit it into an enemy's face
during combat. His clothes are full of small bottles and
packets of powder that he uses to confuse or harm his
opponents - or if the fight goes against him, to cover his
escape.
