Christmas at Home, 1999
Sabrina and I go over the river and
through the woods...
Mom and
Dad (Grandma and Grandpa)
meet Sabrina and I at the Portland Airport
Sabrina
tries to get used to that big old house
(and tries to remember Grandma and Grandpa a bit also)
Diane,
Bryan and the Boys storm the house.
(Sabrina discovers that the boys are a real hoot.)
When all
through the house, not a creature was stirring...not even a mouse...
Oh look!
There's the mouse now!
(That middle mouse sure looks like Christmas got there a bit
early.)
Grandpa,
Christopher and Aunt Diane all look around, as if to say...
"What? Is that all?"
Now that
the presents are open...let the playtime BEGIN!
(Christopher makes a brief cameo as the Mad Hatter,
while Sabrina decides to be Darth Maul for a bit.)
Hoo boy.
I'm glad we didn't have to haul all that home in the suitcase.
Oh. Wait. We did.
(That's Sabrina's stack there by the chair...next to the smiley
face towel.)
Miraculously...Mom actually finds time to sit down and relax.
I have NO IDEA when this happened. Every other time I looked, she
was a dervish.
Sabrina,
Stephen and Jonathan were pretty much inseparable after the first
day.
The tire swing was a HUGE favorite and many, many smiles occurred
there.
Dad and
Christopher check out the ducks in the park.
That's
the Brat Pack now. And Jonathan (Mr. Pokemon) egged Sabrina on to
new heights.
(Or did Sabrina do that to Jonathan? I never was sure...)
Daddy and
Sabrina's room.
This was my room when I was in High School. I was happy to share
it with Sabrina.
Much romping happened here also. (Kong LIKE Little Girl!)
And yes...I know we shouldn't have...but we jumped on the bed.
The snow
trip. We had to drive about three hours into the mountains...but
darn it...
we finally go to the snow. Lots of snowball fights and traipsing
through the woods.
Image of
things to come...
Sabrina as Snow Bunny.
Finally, after Christmas was about done
(and it was almost time to come home)
the Strands, Dad, and myself went to the Portland Trailblazer
game.
Portland waxed the '76ers after a typical miserable Third Quarter.
Very fun.
Reading
bedtime stories to Sabrina is one of the happiest moments I have.
("I don't know WHY she swallowed the fly. Perhaps she'll die!)
