[2006] On June 22nd, Shirley, Roxanne, Vanessa, and I went to see Blues Traveller down town for one of the 'Thursday in the Square' concerts. In Buffalo there are free concerts every thursday from late May until August or September. This show was packed, and moving through the crowd was slow going but the weather stayed cooperative and the band was amazing. They played 2 of their popular songs from back in the day, and the whole croud song along to them. They also did an interesting blended cover song that went from Violent Femmes to Beck-looser to I can't remember now... But it was like 4 or 5 good songs one after another, blended.
[2006] On June 8th, Roxanne, her friend Tiffany, and I went to our first 'Thursday in the Square' in Buffalo. We only stayed for about an hour because they weren't into the music, and it looked like it was going to rain, but I enjoyed the music. The former lead singer of Coul Coughing was singing from his solo material. I would have liked to hear more of it.
[2004] On June 15th, My sweety and I went to Club Infinity where we got to see Breaking Benjamin play for a small crowd. (I think I counted around 80 people total.) The lead singer liked confusing the croud, or trying to, and played 15 seconds of Chevelle's "The Red" before saying 'PSYCH!' The band also did a really good cover of Nirvana's "All Apologies". And after the show, the band hung out at the bar, and I got to talk to the lead singer briefly, and shake his hand. It was a very cool evening for $16.
[2004] On March 20th, Shirley (My sweets!), Susanna, and I went to see the "Winterfresh Snocore tour" at The Dome Theater in the falls. Bands we saw at that show included: Finger Eleven, Smile Empty Soul, and Trapt. Strata was also supposed to play, but we arrived too late to catch their set. Hell of a good show! Also of note, they had a projector setup to play some kind of Skiing/Snowboarding/Snowmobiling extreme stuff. It also played selected music videos and advertisements for the movie "the Punisher" and it's similarly titled video game.
[2003] I really wanted to go see THEY MIGHT BE GIANTS back on August 31st. They were at a music festival northeast of Syracuse, in "Turin, NY". The festival was a 3 day event, and tickets were over $100 for the weekend. Up until the 30th, they still didn't know if they'd have single day tickets. But I was told, if they did, they would be close to $50 bucks. So for the 4th or 5th time, I've been forced to miss TMBG...
[2003] My friend Chris hosted a show on Aug. 13th at the Cruise In, located in Lackawanna. The only band I remember from there was "Burning Flowers" (not really, but I thought that's what they said). The actual bands were: Jefferson 18+ (formerly Honest Disaster), Saving Fate (Bighampton Post-Hardcore), and Tomorrow's Broken (Buffalo Punk). [Broken Glass Records]
[2003] Somewhere in here... I went to see 'I Mother Earth', with a few other bands playing at Jimmy B's in Lockport. IME was everything I hoped for. The only other band I remember from the show was 'Three Days Grace', who really impressed me.
[2003] Near the end of April, I went to EFX. Edge Fest 10 had some really good bands this year, but wasn't at LaSalle Park. It was at the Bison's stadium... Nice for the venders and nice bathrooms, but the seats were ... uncomfortable to say the least. Stage List
[2003] On April 19th, I saw the Jagermeister Music Festival in Cleveland. The Bands that performed there included Systemic, Stereomud, Breaking Benjamin, Hed (PE), and Saliva.
[2003] Jeff, TW and I went to a concert on Feb. 23rd at 'Sphere', now known as 'The Town Ballroom', with the following bands playing:
Trust Company,
Pacifier ,
Blindside,
Or for more Blindside, (if you have Real Player), and
Depswa .
I liked all the bands, I only caught half of Depswa's set, but they were pretty good. Pacifier was having a good time, that night, and their lead singer was everywhere during their set. But Blindside and Trust Company really made the show.
Before that, the last show I went to, I don't remember very well. It was at the Mohawk Place and there were like 5 or 6 bands. Chris showed me to that one.
[2002] The only other shows I can remember from recient history were 'Seether' in mid December, and a few weeks before that, 'Good Charlotte' with 'A Simple Plan' both at the 'Showplace'.
I've also been to see:
During the summer I try to go to the Warped Tour and Edge Fest. Usually I'm not so lucky...
Someday I'd like to see: Ill Niņo, Disturbed, Tool, Gravity Kills, Rob Zombie, They Might Be Giants, Collective Soul, and Ashley MacIsaac.
Some of my favorite cd's are pictured on my music pictures page.
