The DUNGEON CRAWLER >short< FAQ
Q: What does "Dungeon Crawling" mean?
A: "Dungeon Crawling" refers to a type of RPG campaigns where the characters will spend most of their time in "Dungeons" usually solving puzzles, fighting monsters, and getting treasure. In it's current context Dungeon Crawling is usually a derogatory term.
Q: What does "Hack and Slash" mean?
A: "Hack and Slash" refers to a type of RPG adventure where most encounters are resolved with combat. "Hack and Slash" adventures still contain Role-Playing, but it is usually limited to "In-Town" encounters. Like "Dungeon Crawling", "Hack and Slash" in it's modern context is also used as a derogatory term.
Q: Dungeon Crawling , Hack and Slash, aren't those terms supposed to be bad? If such things are looked down on why make a game that promotes that sort of gaming?
A: Depends on whom you ask. When most of us "Old School" gamers started playing RPG's D&D was just about the only game available, and most of our first experiences in gaming were Hack and Slash, Dungeon Crawling. I for one, really like that kind of game and want to try and recapture the same flavor with a game that through both mechanics and style promotes said type of gaming. DC is intended to be similar to what most of us thought RPG's were all about when we first started. Cool characters, black and white issues, fun combat, and lots of laughs.
Q: What are "Anime" and "Anime Style"?
A: "Anime" is a rather catchall term used to describe Japanese animation. Some anime is very serious and dower, some anime is wacky and over-the-top. "Anime Style" usually refers to the wacky kind, where the characters are a bit more than over-the-top. A more comprehensive description can be found simply by searching under "Anime" in a good search engine. I would recommend
www.google.com.
Q: What is "Hentai"?
A: "Hentai" is a type of "Anime" that includes "Soft Core" or "Hard Core" visuals of "Sex" and "Adult" themes. DC can include such styles in any campaign that the GM and players feel comfortable with. Additionally because the DC web page and game document will include "Themes and Descriptions", which while far from "Pornographic", might concern some parents. I recommend DC only to those readers and players over 18 years old, or whatever the "Age of Maturity" is in your region.
Q: Why have you decided to create "Dungeon Crawler" in the "Anime Style"?
A: The simple answer would be those were the easiest pictures to find. The more accurate answer is the pictures and descriptions of "Anime" have really inspired me to keep the game as simple as possible and reminds me to "Keep it Fun". "Anime" characters practically have a license to be fun and wacky.
Q: Speaking of Pictures, where did you get all of the ones found in this web site?
A: Most of the pictures on this site are of "Hentai". While I have selected the ones that do not include graphic depictions of sex, and only a few have any nudity in them, they are all from different "Hentai" games or web sites. On an additional note all of these pictures are used without permission and any legal entity having ownership of any pictures on this site may request their removal.
Q: Why "Hentai" pictures?
A: They tend to be the easiest to find and for the most part they stick to the "Standard" "D&D like" archetypes better than the regular "Anime" ones. If anyone would like to point me to pictures (Anime or Hentai) that fit the style shown on this site I would be grateful. It can be difficult to find ones acceptable for display here.
Q: Why are most of the people in the pictures on this web site Female?
A: As I said above, the pictures came from "Hentai" games. Hentai games usually have one male (the main character) and many females (the objective of the games). However in "Anime" and "Hentai" women are more than just objects. In most "Anime" a women is usually the main hero(ine) and in "Hentai" the women can take care of themselves and indeed bail out the hero on many occasions. DC continues in that tradition and most definitely encourages Female Players and Characters.
Q: Can you help me find "Hentai" pictures or games?
A: No. A simple search for "Hentai" on most search engines will turn up dozens of sites containing such pictures or games. A far more comprehensive list than I would ever be able to provide. Again I would recommend
www.google.com.
Q: Why version 3.0? I never even heard of version 1 or 2.
A: Versions one and two of DC were never completed. Indeed the whole focus of one and two were completely different from one another and from version three. DC 3.0 is my third attempt at making a Dungeon Crawling game I cold be proud of.
Q: How can I contact the Author.
A: I can be reached at
Chuck-Man@Mail.Excite.Com or PMChuck@PBTComm.Net . I welcome all responses even the ones telling me I'm a depraved lecher for having naked cartoons on my site.
Q: How did you make these "Custom Graphics for the "Back" and "Home" buttons?
A: Cut and paste into "MS Windows Paint" do the text and then save them as PNG's with "MS Photo Editor". OK, so this is not exactly a "Frequently Asked Question" but I figured I might earn some brownie points for using such a crummy program and getting such nice results.
