| Square Soft has done it again.Take one part Traditional RPG, one part logic, and throw them out the window! That is not Chrono Cross. Chrono Cross is a new kind of RPG. Gone are the days of Experience Points and Magic points, welcome Stars and Elements. Confused yet? Wait until you see the storyline. I won't ruin it for you, heck, I couldn't ruin it for you if I tried! Let's start from the beginning: You are Serge, just a small village boy. Your day starts off as usual: you overslept and your girlfriend is mad at you. She has a simple request to make of you: Go to a nearby lizard's nest and get her some scales to make a necklace out of. After all, those scales are all the rage around town. After picking on lizards that are half your size(that look like chickens), you're feeling proud of yourself, and go to see your girlfriend at the beach. Goodbye normal life, enter Squaresoft magic. erge collapses on the beach, wakes up a little later to find himself alone on the beach. As you walk, half-dazed, into town, everything seems normal. That is until you find that you've been dead for ten years. And that's just the first 10 minutes of the game! Throw in 40 hours of storyline, 40 different characters, 10+ different endings and you have one hell of a game. One weird quirk, though, you can't change Serge's name to Crono. Go fig. This game is easily a perfect 10 [Webmaster's Note: The name thing may be due to the fact that Crono may still be alive in this, since the game is set 20 years after Chrono Trigger] |
