EarthBound Zero is a direct prequel to the EarthBound on the Super NES. Released in 1989 on the NES, EB Zero never came out in the US(except for ONE cart that sold for 400 bucks). This is a shme, since it was a great game. The graphics are a mixed bag, however, since the map screens range from blah to OK, and the battle screens are just Dragon Warrior-esque still pics on a black background. The characters ar done well, though, and EarthBound veterans will immediately notice the trademark characters Ness, Paula, and Jeff. The sound is well done, with immediately recognizable melodies that were used in its SNES incarnation. Don't get me wrong, though. EB Zero is completely different from its SNES sequel in terms of story and world design. Also note that there are random battles instead of seeing them on-screen. The control in EB Zero is silky smmoth, with few problems. Also note that EB Zero is well worth any RPG freak's time, since it offers humor and interest to the game. I give this a 7.2, since it is really good, but th rtandom battles happen much more often than they should.

Webmaster's Note: You can only get this on emulator.
