When you think of RPGs for the Super NES, you automatically think of Chrono Trigger and Final Fantasy, the big hits. It is very unlikely, however, that you think of Lufia 2, a solid RPG that is made by a mostly unheard of company, Natsume. In my opinion, Lufia 2 was  Natsume's best title. It was a good RPG with a good battle engine and a host of good characters. The story? It has enough twists and turns for you to salt it, dip it in mustard, and eat it up. It's got good weapons and OK spells, and jeust when you think it's like all other RPGs, they throw in something new, the Item Attack system. It is the beginning of the Linit Break system used in the newest Final Fantasies. It is a simple system. As you are attacked, the item gauge builds. When it is at the desired amount, you can use a special ability from an item that you have equipped. This adds to the game's strategy. You equip weapons and armor not just for their strength, but also their abilities. Just to add to the game's variety, Natsume added in a Casino and a secret dungeon. All of this variety and a and a story that keeps up with modern RPGs makes for a great game. On my scale, I give it a 9.
