Description: The Nizoans are humanoids who are descended from humans, how they arrived in this system is still unknown. They have adapted well to Uxmal's aquatic environment, mainly through the tranformation of their skeleton into a more flexible (albeit still dense) cartilaginous bone structure. They have also developped membranes that afford better mobility in water, their fingers are half-webbed, which allows extra speed, without sacrificing dexterity while their toes are fully webbed. They tend to be taller and longer-limbed than most humans, but under enough clothing, they can easily be mistaken for humans. They have skin tones and eye colorations that vary as much as humans, with light brown being the most common for both. Nizoans wear simple clothing, made of synthetic fibres that dry quickly, and provide warmth in cold water. This species has much larger lungs than humans, enabling them to spend a good 10 minutes below water, this is extended to 20 minutes for the more trained divers among them, their hearts are also well developed, hence they have slower heart rates than usual human (on average 30-40 beats/minute), another plus if you hold your breath often.

Note: In short, they are humans with webbed hands and feet, strong hearts and lungs, and large, flexible bones, but no gills, or any other non-mammalian characteristics so as any human, they are greatly angered at any allusion to them being related to fish.

History: This is one of the more advanced species humanity has discovered in it's explorations, the Nizoans are effectively in their information revolution (pl5) and they keep detailed records of their history. Their ancient temples and cities bear a great resemblance to Earth?s pre-Colombian, south-American empires, which has led scientists to believe that this species was brought here, from earth, approximately two millennia ago, either by some discovered portal on earth, or by being transported to the Viracocha system by a superior race. This also raises questions about the possibility that this species has been genetically altered by the same race that may have brought them here, since no known life-forms are able to evolve to better suit themselves to a new environment in as short a period as 2000 years.
