Daihachi

The snow was fresh on the ground as the earth beneath the fallen flakes bursted forth. A single clawed hand eruppted from the earth grasping vainly for the sky and stars above... This was the beginning of the second breath.

Daihachi was an isolated young man. His parents cared for him greatly...yet they never truly knew him. The complexity that was his soul. How he longed for a release from this world which to him was void. He excelled at his studies as a result of intense parental supervision. This was his life. A series of achievments that meant nothing to him.

It wasn't until his last year of high school that he met a beautiful classmate. She was just as successful in school as he was, but he never saw her at any of the afterschool functions or anywhere else.

Little by little Daihachi began to get to know her. And the more he learned the closer he moved to damnation. The girl was the member of a local gang. They tormented the elderly, stole, and were an all out tempest of trouble. Like a whirlpool Daihachi was sucked into a world he had never new existed before.

Every night was a new sensation. A new rush. The thrill of being chased by store owners. The flesh and bone cracking as the boot meets the ribs of some random man off the street. For once in his life, Daihachi threw off his mortal coil and lived. Caution was thrown to the wind and now he lived for himself. Not for his parents or the family honor, but for himself...and he liked things this way.

Daihachi wasn't much in the way of athleticism or physical prowess. So he was still at the bottom of the pecking order as far as the gang went. His brilliant mind began taking a different turn. instead of solving mathmatical problems...it went to a darker place. It became deviously clever. He devised brilliant plans for robberies and getting even with rival gangs.

The thrills became less and less indulging...Daihachi wanted more. So one night he lead them all out on an excursion into the depths of evil. That night daihachi took the lives of 2 people...both his parents.

The rush was exilhirating. He tortured them for 3 days. Daihachi held dominion over life and death. He became a God. Never before had he known such power. Then finally he turned the blade he had used on his parents on himself. The pain was incredible...yet he knew he was still alive for those few seconds...he lived life w/o constraint.

Daihachi's soul went straight into the yomi. He was trapped in the hell of being cut to pieces. Blades assaulted his soul for the first few moments of his his visit there. But this was not fair. This was not living. There was more to do. He just wanted too much too fast. He had to go back...back to the real world. Quickly Daihachi leaped through the blades onto another falling body. As the blades ripped and snapped at his skin he moved upward. His will focused and unyeilding. This was not the end of his existance. As the poor fools he used as stepping stones continued to repay their karmic debt Daihachi would have none of it. It would not end here. NEVER!!!

Spirits began to take notice and their dark twisted forms belched forth wails that sounded like the death throes of a child.

"NEVER!!!" Daihachi screamed as he continued his break from the hell. As the last blade pierced his flesh Daihachi laughed.

"My will is that of Iron, My heart is fire, and my anger beautiful you will never claim my soul." Daihachi cried to the denziens of the hell as he lept out of the pit, and into darkness.

When Daihachi saw his old gang again. He feasted on their flesh. Never before had he tasted anything so sweet and pure. Shortly after that he was found by a local wu who brought him to the courts where he would begin his training as a new member of the night...a Kuei-Jin.

It wasn't long before Daihachi's views upset alot of people. He was tired of the old ways of the court. In order to survive the sixth age the kuei-jin must change. It was here Daihachi joined the Ranks of the Bamboo Princes.
The political climate became to warm for Daihachi. So he took the name Kagato and moves with many others to California during the Great leap outward. The states held many possibilites and many artifacts. Here he could establish himself quickly without the Mandarins and Ancestors scoffing at his new ways of thinking. He left the land of the rising sun for the land of the setting sun, and has yet to look back. But soon he will, and when he does there will be a reckoning.
