Just outside of the rainy capital of the world, Seattle, in a little known town called Spanaway, Kestrel Skye was born to Dr. Micheal Skye and Rachel Soron Skye. Her father was a pediactric doctor in Good Samaritan Hospital. Her mother was a kindergarden teacher at a little elementry school called Evergreen. At the time, Micheal and Rachel had two sons, Arron and Patrick.

When Kes was six and started going to school with other kids, she had this feeling she didn't fit in, and never would. She was quiet, but she made friends easily. She always had a group of kids who hung around with her, but it never felt right to her, she was different. When Kes was eight, her mother announced that she was going to have another kid. A girl, it turned out, named Ashley.

By 4th grade all of Kes's teachers were raving to her parents about how smart she was. She was enrolled in challange, and skiped 5th grade. Knowledge was so easy to gain for her, and she flew through elementry and jounior high with all A's. Already she was starting to move away from her friends, and by the time she was in highschool, her only friends were the ones in her "extra" classes at the collage. Many of the kids thought she was too smart for her own good, and only a few girls here or there tryed to be her friends, but it never felt right to Kes.

June 15, 1999. The summer between her sophmore and junior years at Bethel High School, all six of the Skye's were driving through the intersection of Pacific Ave and 176th in their dark green suburban, when a semi hit them broad side in the middle of the intersection.

Two fatalities. The moment Kestrel's mom and little sister died, something changed inside her. Something Awakened. They tried seeing a phsyciatrist to help ease the pain, but it didn't work. Dr. Adler tryed to help Kes too, with the new part of her. He taught her alot. How to use her magic, to understand what was happening to her. But he had his own intentions.

Six mentors and a few mental and emotional breakdowns on her fathers part, left her on a plane. Destination: San Fransico, and hopefully, a new life.
