San Francisco by Night
Michael D. Reibar
History of Michael D. Reibar
Date of Birth: October 31, 5502 B.C. And the moon was a Blood Red that night.
True Name: Karaindash. But he doesn't remember it.
Born in the lands now known as Egypt. Karaindash was born into a family of farmers. But he
knew there was more to the world than farming. He spent much of his time working under his
father and his mother. Both having their own abilities far beyound that ever known. His
mother was special, being able to bring about the rain when the season were dry. She
taught him how to change the weather, how to bend it to his own will.
A mysterious woman entered his young life. Her beauty far beyond any he ever seen. He
never found it at all odd that he only saw her during the nights. That only made him want
to know more of her. To spend even longer with her. Her long dark hair, crystal blue eyes,
ruby red lips. Karaindash was bewitched by this woman. Leaving his home every night to see
to her. To be with her. Pylia. Karaindash was so happy in his young life. Until Micaelea
appeared.
Once more slipping out of his home, Karaindash was going to meet his Pylia when a creature
of beauty stepped before him. Her long blond hair, light green eyes and the face of an
Angel came to him. "Karaindash...." Her voice was so sweet and yet it filled his
mind with blood and death. "My sweet, sweet Karaindash. I have so much I wish to
share with you. To teach you my beloved Warlock to be." Karaindash swayed from the
sound of her voice and doesn't even hear the word Warlock placed up him.
She step to him, placing her hands upon his face. Karindash eyes closes feeling her so
near. Her scent overpowering his every senses. "Oh my sweet, sweet Warlock. I want to
teach you so much of this world and the world to be. All you have to do is be with me.
Allow me to teach you." Opening his eyes, Karindash looks upon this visage of an
Angel and nods slowly, "Y..yes...."
Karindash felt her lips upon his. The world seems to spin around him as she takes him
within her arms. His entire body, his blood feeling as if it was being boiled. He feels
hiself falling. And he opens his eyes, looking into a bright clear morning.
Karaindash love for Pylia continued to bloom. His lessons beginning under Micaelea. His
alchemical talents already a part of him and that faithful night appeared. Micaelea
appeared once more, the moon running red. It was his 25th birthday. His death day.
Karaindash didn't know that Micaelea had tricked him into taking back the gift he gave to
Pylia. And that infuriated Pylia. And it didn't help that Micaelea toyed with her mind as
well. "Karaindash...." He stops as he walks away from the house. "Over
here...." He moves towards the woods. HIs heart filled with his love for Pylia.
"What is it you wish Mentor?" And he stops before her his gaze falling down on
her. "I have a gift....I promised you life ever after when I thought you were ready.
And you are ready my beloved Warlock." He smiles. "A birthday present for me.
Please, Mentor. I wish to see."
Karaindash watches as Micaelea retrieves a small crystal bottle seemingly from nowhere.
She removes the top and a stream of white mist drifts from within. "Life ever after
my Warlock. Drink and be happy with your love forever." Karaindash gaze was on the
bottle and he was unaware of the hatred within her eyes as she crosses the air about
herself and says something under her breath in a language unfamiliar to him. She offered
him the bottle and he was compelled to take it. He raised the bottle to his lips and drank
of its contents.
Micaelea smiled, "Go see your beautiful friend now Karaindash. The elixir takes time
to work." He smiles as he hands her the bottle and walks away. "Thank you for
the present Mentor." He never even noticed the locket that he had given to Pylia
hanging about her neck.
Meeting Pylia the night started with a bang. Her rage hitting him as soon as he stepped
in. She cursed him in many tongues and he cried out as she hit him. The blow sending him
into the wall the sound of bones snapping and popping as he finally slide down the wall.
His back broken. But she wasn't done.
Karaindash looks up, trying to plead with Pylia. Trying to learn what angered her so but
to no avail. She picked him up like he was nothing and he saw her hand then darkness as
his neck was broken.
The feeling of darkness and coldness seem to engul him. Then pain as he felt fire surging
through his entire body. His eyes opened quickly, the anger in his heart burning brightly.
Karaindash heard crying farther away. He turns his neck, the sound of it fixing itself
loud. The sound of his back louder. He stood up slowly. The rage flowing through him.
<Merit - Immortality>
"I curse thee, my Warlock. To live forever. You will never feel love nor happiness
towards any other except me. To feel love or happiness will bring about death. Death by
your hands. I curse thee, my Warlock. To live forever. You will never feel love nor
happiness towards any other except me. To feel love or happiness will bring about death.
Death by your hands. I curse thee, my Warlock...."
Karaindash rage was so great his rebirth showered upon by the blood red moon. And he
attacked the one he onced love. Her blood all over him. "Welcome home my beloved
Warlock..."
"Welcome home..."
In the year of 1835 to 1909, Karaindash watched great changes take place in Egyptian
agriculture. Several large projects including the Delta barrage and dams in Upper Egypt
were constructed in order to render perennial irrigation possible. In 1869, he watched as
the first school of agriculture was establised and the first directorate of agriculture in
1875.
In 1897 he saw a number of experimental farms established in vairous localities. And in
1910 the Department of Agriculture was established under the Ministry of Public Works. To
see such changes over the year were new and exciting for the young Karaindash and with the
change of his motherlands, he was able to watch. But it was time to move across to the
other new land called America, to learn even more.
For many years, Karaindash spent time working up his Alchemy <Path> and the art of
summoning Fire <Path> He knew from the moment he met the woman who killed him that
other creatures existed in the night and he was determined to learn as much as he could on
the situation.
In 1945, Karaindash stepped foot onto American soil and here he witnessed the changes of
the country as well. Changing his name to Alex <Last name left out intentionally>,
he began his first task of learning all he could of the American tongue. While here he
learned much on the Occult, learned several more languages. But as he was cursed, those
who became close to him met their demise in a gruesome way and by his hands. Death, death
was all he cared to learn off. Not sharing life with another who he would watch grow old
and die and he remain forever young.
Women would sworm around him, allowing his prey to be easily picked. <Animal
Magnetis> For years he would stalk the night life, seeking those who's life seemed to
be near its end. Only those would fall prey to his need of destroying and through such he
caught the attention of a Euthanatos Mage by the name of Issa. He stayed by her side and
in time becoming a close friend of her's. <Euthanatos Consor> Together they studied
the burial ritual of the Egyptians <Skill - Acient Burial & Death Rituals> She
taught him about the Mage ways and the ways of the Euthanatos. Alex found a means to use
his curse for him instead of against him. "As an Initiate of the Euthanatos
mage," she had said, "we undergo what we call agama or the short death. A
near-death experience which takes us to the Underworld for a long moment to savor
mortality and the wisdom of the Great Unmaking."
Issa's words rang true in his mind, remembering his experience so many centuries ago and
he listened while she told him even more. <Lore - Euthanatos> Through Issa, he
learned of the Euthanatoi view on the Kindred. Both a fascination and pity. Even Alex's
own fascination with this group was apparent. <Several Vampire based Skills> She
even spoke of the others, Changing Breed, Wraith, Mummies, and Changeling. And as usual,
he commited her words to memory and book.
In 1980, and with the aid of Issa Alex dissapeared from the world <Arcane 5> and
later reaapeared, now going by the name of Johnathan. Together they appeared in Wisconsin
and Damien began to teach at the University of Wisconsin, teaching Mythology but he spent
most of his time collecting books <Antiquarian>, translating ancient manuscripts
<Skill - Paleography>, studying religious scriptures <Skills - Theology and
Sacred Scriptures> and studying seals and sigils. <Skill - Sigillography> And
here, he caught the attention of Sandeep D'Souza, a fellow instructor at the University of
Wisconsin and he invited Damien to a meeting.
Once brought into the New Delhi Chapter House, Damien was inducted into the ways of a
"Neophyte." With the assistance of his Elder Sister, Damien embarked on his new
path in life, gathering up much information possible not only for the House but to learn
more for himself.
1998, he spent the previous years working with this new organization and he found himself
in New York, where he came across his only child. While there he spent most of his time
trying to come to terms with a daughter he never knew of. Their meeting started off rocky,
but in time things seemed to turn for the good. Until their lives were interfered with by
BSD and Hedge Magicians who worship the darker powers.
His daughter kidnapped. The woman or rather the vampire that he was involved with at the
time the prime suspect. The woman he cared for the most, found dead in the bell tower of
the church. He put aside his connections with the organization he worked for, for such a
long time and took up the means of placing his revenge.
The vampire who betrayed him, meeting death at the hands of his friend and companion,
Laycie, and her sister. And with her body before him he called upon the flames and set her
soul free. But his daughter was still missing and he stepped into the umbra, returning to
the location of his daughter's disappearance. The house they lived in burned to the ground
and he narrowed his gaze going through the ruins, but finding nothing of his daughter's
whereabout.
For many months, he spent his time hunting down those who invaded his home. But he found
nothing of his daughter until one night, his daughter fell into his arms, soaked to the
bone and mumbling about the 'gator attacking and killing the one who saved her. He took
her back home and then left with his companion to Egypt where they remained for the
remainder of the year. He spent his time honing his skill of the hunt and gathering more
information on the supernatural.
1999, now going by the name of Michael Reibar and again with the help of his friend Issa
and accompanied by his companion, Laycie Covington, he has made his way to San Francisco.
Taking up the job of teaching at the University of San Francisco Ancient History and
Mythology local myths and legends. But he's here as well on business as his
"employer" informs him of a cult called the Cult of Vulgarius making its
appearance in a local news report. His job... investigate and learn more of this Cult and
investigate any other supernatural occurances going on in San Franciso.
