This is the list of bosses and strategies for defeating them. I have not finished them all, but am adding when I get time.



Gohma (main boss…Deku Tree)

To defeat Gohma, toss down a Deku nut when she first falls from the ceiling. It will stun her. Run up and slash at her eye a few times. Then target her eye and wait til she climbs up onto the ceiling. When her eyes turns red, hit it with the slingshot. She will fall to the ground, stunned. Run up and slash madly at her eye. You should be able to take her out here. If not, just repeat the process. If you manage not to hit her on the ceiling, she will drop 3 eggs that will hatch into Ghoma Larva if you do not kill them. If you run low on life or ammo, cut the plants around the edge of the room for ammo/hearts. She is easy. Try her a few times if you want...you should be able to get her in less than a minute.


King Dodongo (main boss…Dodongo’s Cavern)

To defeat King Dodongo, run up to him when he is facing you. When he opens his big mouth, lob a bomb into it! It will blow up and stun him. Run up and slash him. He will then roll around the room. If you stand right next to the lava, and I mean right next to it, he won’t hit you. You can also take cover from his fire breath here if you need to. Repeat the bomb/slash process 4 times (3 times if you leap slash him), and he will be toast.


Bigocto (mini-boss…Jabu-Jabu’s Belly)

Bigocto isn’t too hard. Stun him with the boomerang, then slash at his back. When you hit him with the boomerang, he will spin around and there is a 50/50 chance he will change direction. Just keep tossing the b-rang at him until his back is to you, then attack. 4 hits will do him in.


Barinade (main boss…Jabu-Jabu’s Belly)

Barinade…possibly one of the coolest bosses in the game. First off, nail the 3 main tentacles with your boomerang to sever them. Watch out for the electro-pods. Then, target the main body and give it a whack with your ‘rang. Barinade will get stunned, and this is your opportunity to slash him. Repeat this procedure until he pops out of the ground and starts moving around the room. Be careful of the electro-pods, and target te main body again. Try to get a hit in with your boomerang. It’s easiest if you can get the pods to rotate clockwise. When you get him, don’t attack the main body, rather focus your ‘rang on the pods. Repeat until they are all destroyed. At this point, Barinade will pop out of the ground all the way. Hit it with your boomerang to stun it, then attack, attack! Do this until Barinade falls.


Ghost Sisters (mini-bosses…Forest Temple)

The 4 Ghost Sisters are not too much of a problem. To defeat the first two, shoot arrows at their pictures, until they appear. Then defeat as per normal ghosts. For the 3rd Sister, you must arrange the blocks to form her picture within the time limit. She will then appear. Defeat as before. The last Sister, Meg, is also not too hard. She will make 3 images of herself, and they will rotate around you. Stand still (do not look around or anything, let them go around you), and use the hookshot or bow to shoot at the images. If it is a fake image, it will disappear, but if not, she will take damage, disappear, then repeat the process. Just stay in one place and repeat 4 or so times, and she will go down.


Phantom Ganon (main boss…Forest Temple)

This ghostly apparition of Ganon sits upon an equally ghostly horse. At first, he will fly into one of the pictures. Position yourself on one of the small Triforces around the edge of the room and you will be safe from his magic until you dismount him. To do so, fire an arrow at him as he rides out of a picture. Be careful, sometimes you will see two Ganon’s coming from pictures. As long as you are standing on a Triforce, however, you won’t take damage in case you should happen to miss. After you dismount him, use your sword to deflect his energy balls back at him. Play tennis with him until he takes a hit, then run up and slash him. Repeat until dead. He can be tough sometimes, so be careful. Bring a potion or a fairy if you think you might need one.


Volvagia (main boss...Fire Temple)

This fiery dragon looks impressive, but can be cooled off quite easily. When he pops his head out of one of the small lava holes, hit him with the megaton hammer, and he will be stunned. Slash him as quick as you can, then retreat, Z target him and hold your shield up. Once he pops out of the hole, he has two methods of attack...fire breath and causing rocks to fall from the sky. Avoid both. After you pound him twice with the hammer, he will try and fool you but emitting some flames from one hole, while popping out another. Wait until you see his head and then go and mash him. Don't waste an opportunity to hit him while you're running around. After a few rounds of this, you will arise victorious. Not too bad!
