[Sweet Oblivi Inn, Tavern]
Tin-lined brass cups stand ready to be filled with hospitable drink by the inn's proprietors. Half-walls, thick and whitewashed, form partitions between the tables. Baskets of various sizes and shapes are affixed to the plain white walls, attesting to the affluence of owners who have so many unneeded wares. You also see the tavern keeper, Cautu and a tavern menu.

Astraea says, "Alright dears."
Astraea says, "Now this is an experiment in self control as well as a chat."
Astraea says, "I AM GOING TO SPEAK LOUDLY FOR A MOMENT"
Astraea recites:
"During this meeting you are asked to please control yourselves and keep screen scroll to a minimum.
1. Limit all actions
2. Order from the bar now so we don't later
3. Talk to each other in whispers.
4. Be patient with me
5. Respect whoever is speaking and remain silent while they speak."
Astraea recites:
"I have control with no controling powers. So please
1. Respect my Chairwomanship.
Those who cannot refrain from being boistrious will be sent on a fast trip far away."
Astraea says, "Your doing well now."
Astraea waves her nicked dagger around.
Astraea says, "Ermm"
Astraea coughs.
Astraea puts a nicked dagger in a small silk purse.
Astraea removes a white-hot fire poker from her silk purse.
Astraea says, "Better."
Astraea says, "Now we have gathered together here because in part I promised that we would."
Astraea says, "I promised rogues we would have this chat for some time. Now Im less than ready to chat than I might be. I admit this. However the oncoming end of realloctation has worried folks."
Astraea says, "Now I want you to rest your minds at ease in regard to that."
Astraea says, "Yes once we close reallocation you are stuck with what you chose."
Astraea says, "So choosing wisely in regard to alignment is probably a good thing."
Astraea says, "Which god is best... They are all good."
Astraea says, "Depends on your profession perhaps."
Astraea says, "WE all have our quirks in our ideal characters."
Astraea says, "My ideal character is Fast and light and smart... Anothers is full of stamina and strong but not so smart."
Astraea says, "Which is correct? Neither."
Astraea says, "Its what suits you."
Astraea says, "Now in general the skills you get by advancing to your next level without the expenditure of TDPS"
Astraea says, "Are the skills you need to advance.""
Astraea says, "The guilds have control of what you need. The majority of your skill ranks come from the guilds... not trainers."
Astraea says, "Now Does this mean you can't be a little better in this or that or the other thing."
Astraea says, "Sure you can... thats what the TDPS are for."
Astraea says, "That and to balance yourself."
Astraea says, "Perhaps your god gives you more weapons but leaves you blind as a bat.. you can balance your perception to what it might ought to be."
Astraea says, "The purpose of reallocation was not so that you could pick the maximum possible potential character."
Astraea says, "NOT"
Astraea says, "It was to balance some errors that existed in design."
Astraea says, "Primarily in that we had lumped skills in groups."
Astraea says, "It was to break those skills out."
Astraea says, "And to be sure that the classes had the skills they needed."
Astraea says, "Now... priests and alchemists being our magic clasess..."
Astraea says, "Will always want to expend the TDPS in those catagories."
Astraea says, "As one aspect of those classes that is inescapable is that of the spell chaser :)"
Astraea says, "You will always want the new spell."
Astraea says, "I know."
Astraea says, "In GS and DR I played magic users."
Astraea says, "Ahh Im sorry Im misusing a term."
Astraea says, "the term is TP's or Training points."
Astraea says, "In DR they were Time Develement training points."
Astraea says, "hence my TDPS"
Astraea blushes a bright red color.
Astraea says, "They didn't exist in GS."
Astraea smiles.
Astraea says, "now for the magic users. I can only say ... you will have to see what comes. But the magic should be fun as it does come."
Astraea says, "Im off track for the rogues at present. But these questions are questions that everyone in this room wanted answerd."
Astraea says, "Now.. Im going to take a pause on my rambling... and let you all ask a few questions. First will be Lilith"
Lilith asks, "I am curious. I never reallocated, and I am level 2. Since I'm so young, will I be affected by not making any changes?"
Astraea says, "Good question."
Astraea says, "actually It should not hurt you in any way. level 1 skills start out different than leveling and level 2 you made under the new system."
Lilith says, "Okay. I see."
Astraea says, "Anyone who has been leveling since reallocation was implemente leveled with the new skillsets. Levels prior to the implementation of reallocation would still be under the old system. Though level 1 is not a concern."
Astraea says, "Alright Tainais you have the floor."
Tanais asks, "simple question, most may know this answer, but are there guilds for every profession?"
Astraea says, "Ok I use the term guild to describe your profession in general. There are no guild houses or guilds... persay. Though some have formed unoffical assocations."
Astraea asks, "Dearcy?"
Astraea says, "you have the floor."
Dearcy asks, "I wanted to ask what the format of this meeting is going to be. I have some vey specific questions about rogues I've been asked to ask on behalf of my fiancee and I want to know when I get to pipe up?"
Dearcy says, "I don't want to pipe up out of turn"
Astraea says, "Ok I will give you an opportunity later."
Astraea says, "Currently I wanted to deal with the...."
Astraea Wails, "Reallocation is ending and we don't know what to do!"
Astraea grins.
Astraea says, "Bascially you do what you did before we ever had reallocation."
Astraea says, "Pick what you think you ought to train in."
Astraea says, "Fine Dementius You have the floor then Vaftel then GArrock."
Dementius says, "My question is two-fold:"
Dementius asks, "In regards to stealing, after much experimenting with numerous skills, the primary skills still remain unclear, can you shed some light on stealing?"
Dementius says, "Also, has there been any consideration to allowing us to stalk critters for the purpose of staying with a *mark*,"
Astraea says, "Stealing are roguish skills. You recieve what you need to steal without any special training. A rogue is perceptive works like the precision clockwork mechanism of a lock, they are coordinated and lucky."
Astraea asks, "I think thats plain enough. And your other fold question?"
Astraea smiles.
Dementius says, "Also, has there been any consideration to allowing us to stalk critters for the purpose of staying with a *mark*,"
Astraea says, "Actually no."
Dementius asks, "Does that mean it will never be considered?"
Astraea says, "Though that is a thought."
Astraea asks, "It may be considered. But you might have noticed it gets rather difficult to steal a second time from the same critter?"
Astraea says, "I was in favor of when caught the critter wacks you across the head, sending you sprawling to the ground, unconcious for 60 seconds."
Astraea says, "But I was told that would be unfair."
Astraea grins.
Astraea says, "Alright Vaftel you have the floor."
Vaftel says, "I was wondering about what you said earlier. Are you sure that people arriving after reallocation are getting the new skills and training costs? I know it wasn't like that for at least a month after reallocation started"
Astraea says, "We fixxed that."
Astraea says, "I do believe. I reacall some of the problems and they were repaired."
Astraea exclaims, "Garrock Your on!"
Astraea says, "And they were all walderns fault."
Garrock asks, "Well mine is a similar question, those who have some of their skills under the old system, will they be reverted?"
Astraea says, "Well anyone who has skills under the old system is missing out."
Astraea says, "I would reallocate or be slightly behind the others."
Astraea says, "Well if it were some one who knew it were ongoing and just didn't bother we might not help them out... but if it was someone returning after a long haitus who had no clue yes we as gm's could... allow them to reallocate."
Astraea says, "So basically if your talking about your other character... I wold reallocate."
Astraea says, "If your talking about a stranger whos been gone for 3 months we will be fair to them."
Jesta asks, "i wanted to ask about ambush. Will there be a proper ambush ability and what skills will be required to use it? Also, Have you considered a way to use ranged weapons in hiding?"
Astraea exclaims, "Ack you suprised me!"
Astraea says, "Alright no decisions have been made in regard to either of those skills."
Astraea says, "ER potential skills."
Astraea says, "But on the other hand that means they are not rulled out either."
Astraea asks, "Alright so let us take ambush... what skill do YOU think jesta would apply most to it?"
Jesta says, "stealth"
Jesta asks, "tumbling?"
Astraea says, "Common sense."
Astraea says, "And you have that."
Astraea says, "Stealth it will be if we ever put it in. Though it might also relie on a couple stats."
Astraea asks, "Ie int and luck... and coord perhaps?"
Astraea asks, "Pickoer please pick a question?"
Pickoer says, "I want to know if we will ever be able to backstab. ::drools:: Also, will us centaurs ever be able to give rides? I know that a bunch of people are against it but I'd like to give my good friends rides some times."
Astraea says, "Ok backstab is basically the same question as ambush just asked."
Astraea says, "Ambush backstab... a shaft in the back by any other name."
Astraea says, "On the rides topic."
Astraea says, "I don't think we have ever discussed it. Off hand I would think it sort of doubtful."
Astraea says, "Simply due to mechanics."
Astraea says, "Though I would not rule it out."
Astraea says, "It might be possible but if so ... its down the road."
Astraea exclaims, "Ok Hyzenthlay you have the floor!"
Hyzenthlay asks, "ok - broken lockpicks - When will we be able to fix them? How? and what skills would apply?"
Astraea says, "mmm Broken lockpicks."
Hyzenthlay says, "it tells us we should fix them when they break, but we cant"
Astraea says, "broken lockpics."
Astraea nods.
Astraea says, "I know"
Astraea says, "I just have a hard time picturing how could you repair one :)"
Astraea says, "On the repair Im not going to make any promises..."
Astraea says, "However you will be able to make them at some point in time."
Astraea says, "And the skill when that happens will be gadgeetering."
Astraea exclaims, "How do you make a pick... you grind it!"
Astraea says, "You don't beat it with a hammer and cast it."
Astraea says, "You file it."
Astraea says, "It is possible there will be repair as well."
Hyzenthlay asks, "any idea on when this creating lockpicks will happen?"
Astraea says, "Sometime in the months ahead."
Astraea exclaims, "Alright. Ahh ok next is Jherle!"
Jherle says, "How is wearing armor gonna affect rogues? It doesn't much now, but I'm pretty dependent on it right now and I want to know if that'll hurt me eventually."
Astraea exclaims, "I think thats a question for the combat forum!"
Astraea says, "Ok well your not that dependent on it."
Astraea says, "No more so than anyone else."
Jherle says, "I guess so, I just get hit a lot more without it"
Astraea says, "Well yes."
Jherle says, "My other question"
Jherle asks, "Are caltrops going to be what we expect from creating traps, or will traps be useful down the line?"
Astraea says, "Alright."
Astraea says, "On traps."
Astraea says, "TRraps are complex."
Astraea says, "There will be more added."
Astraea says, "However certain other changes makes this slow."
Astraea says, "Now traps is also the skill for disarming as well as setting."
Jherle asks, "Will we being see traps we can disarm soon?"
Astraea says, "Ahh"
Astraea grins.
Astraea says, "Well on traps on chests..."
Astraea says, "that is close."
Astraea says, "In fact I would have finished that this morning."
Astraea says, "But I procrastinated on trying to decide how exactly I want failures to occur."
Astraea says, "And blow you up."
Astraea grins.
Astraea says, "Im serious... Figuring out a fair test is quite difficult."
Jesta asks, "will they break picks?"
Astraea says, "Depends on the trap."
Astraea says, "I sort of like the superglue in the lock traps. :)"
Astraea says, "Actaully..."
Astraea says, "If you pick a chest without first disarming it... thers a good chance you will lose the pick."
Astraea says, "But if its disarmed then the pick is as safe as they are now."
Astraea exclaims, "Alrightie Melodone!"
Melodone says, "Okay, this is a little off roguish pathways, but kinda affects everyone."
Melodone asks, "It was mentioned at one time we might really get steeds? I would like to see either that or maybe chariot service between places?"
Melodone says, "Or cart service or something. It gets really old having to walk everywhere over and over."
Astraea says, "Well Herc walks and Gabrielle and horses usually walk..."
Astraea says, "Ok so you want a steed to ride?... tell horse n tell horse ne... tell horse go trail"
Melodone asks, "Well, programmable steed?"
Melodone giggles.
Astraea coughs.
Melodone exclaims, "Tell horse, go Anavyssos! Go Thebes!"
Astraea says, "Now pehaps at some point there could be wagons or caravans as we get further and further places."
Astraea says, "And I won't rule out steeds/hores"
Astraea says, "Or camels."
Astraea says, "But in general I don't think they will come any time soon."
Astraea exclaims, "Alrightie Sejast!"
Sejast says, "I have a question pertaining adrenal and ranged weapons."
Sejast asks, "As for adrenal, does it have any future practical use for rogues?"
Astraea says, "It might."
Astraea says, "Adrenal is a skill that all will be able to use at some point or another."
Astraea asks, "however as rogues do you not get a fair bit of adrenal?"
Astraea says, "The warriors will be be the best at it."
Astraea says, "alchemists get adrenal in a bottle."
Astraea says, "So to speak"
Astraea says, "adrenal is the grit your teeth and burst your temple veins sort of power that a warrior will be best suited to harness... otherts will take more time to do the same things."
Sejast says, "Also, pertaining to the attack command, is there plans for a command to work with ranged weapons the same way, i.e. fire cutthroat equals the action loading and firing in the same action and it happens again after so many seconds."
Astraea says, "Good suggestion."
Astraea asks, "have you posted it on the boards?"
Sejast says, "Where attacking makes you swing every 10 seconds..."
Sejast shakes his head.
Astraea says, "Do so. Request that FIRE function like ATTACK"
Astraea says, "Btw Adrenal is coming... sometime in the next months."
Astraea says, "Be it 1 or 100."
Astraea says, "More seriously.. I know we need adrenal as such its on my list of things to push for."
Astraea asks, "Lexie Whats does Bob want to ask?"
Lexie asks, "Bob wants to know since we can steal, is it possible that critters can steal from us?"
Astraea says, "Not ... yet."
Astraea says, "Soon."
Lexie says, "And another.."
Astraea says, "I think primarily from loose change rattling around in packs..."
Lexie says, "Is there any way to increase our intel and luckiness."
Astraea says, "level increases it."
Astraea exclaims, "And now is Tennetty!"
Astraea says, [About being able to measure fame] "Seems to me a resonable request... But luck is evasive... fame may be more notiable."
Astraea says, "Ok Tennetty thats as much as I can say there."
Tennetty says, "OK...with all this new stealing going on...is there gonna be any way to control it...or allow critters to regenerate treasure? I went thru at least 8 legs with nuthin on em until new ones appeared. "
Astraea asks, "Ok rogues? Were you getting more than one thing per critter before?"
Astraea asks, "and can you now?"
Astraea says, "Ok. That was part of the problem was that they could steal everything."
Astraea says, "Now they cannot."
Astraea says, "the nicer thieves will steal for the fun of it then kill anway."
Astraea says, "Steal is not done."
Astraea says, "fRankly once a critter engages you... I think you shouldn't be able to steal from it again period."
Astraea says, "So there might still be changes."
Astraea says, "No actually you cannot get anymore from stealing than from searching... in fact less now."
Astraea says, "unless they kill."
Astraea says, "well it would be legal... it would be tacky ettiquette."
Astraea says, "not unlike wandering into some ones hunting area and starting attacking critters without talking."
Astraea asks, "almost useless?"
Astraea asks, "you can steal once correct?"
Jherle says, "I try once and miss, they flush me out every time after"
Astraea says, "Well once they know your there they are wary... thats logical."
Astraea says, "Alright. I am going to move STEAL to the boards for discussion. Please discuss it there. :)"
Astraea says, "Again it may be changed still."
Astraea says, "Ok Epocleaen"
Epoclaen says, "Luck. I always hear about it and I guess that fame songs affect it (wait, I guess that's appearance) but there's no way to measure it. And yet it is affecting so many skills least of all without a way to gauge it I can't tell the effect or strength of my songs. Will we ever have a way to "see" what it is? Maybe this applies to appearance more than luck but the same questions go for that too."
Astraea says, "Ok good comments and questions."
Astraea says, "You know I recommend posting on that in the story teller boards."
Astraea says, "Because other than a vaugue... yes there will be ways to gauge someday.. and those will be round about... ie how a npc treats you perhaps... I have no clear answer and those definently ar ethe regime of the storyteller guru in your manner of concern"
Astraea says, "Good points. Beat on your story teller guru. :)"
Astraea asks, "Diona! Whats up?"
Diona asks, "how will we be able to tell if a chest is trapped?"
Astraea says, "By examining it."
Astraea says, "and there should be an indication of the trap type in that examination... ie... if its a superglue trap..."
Astraea says, "Alright Sejast"
Sejast asks, "What skill will be needed to find the trap? Perception? traps?"
Astraea says, "The skills I fought for."
Astraea says, "Perception will play a part."
Astraea says, "Perception and traps... naturally with a smidge of int and luck"
Astraea says, "and."
Astraea says, "let me go into the traps jesta bit."
Astraea says, "If you get a trap off a creature the same level as you... you have a chance of disarming and opening the most difficult chest that can be created on said creature... with your stock skills... That might mean 1 in 100 with a 10 in 100 of blowing up instead... but you will have a chance."
Astraea says, "Seeing the trap is int luck and traps and perception... disarming it uses coord."
Astraea says, "disarming using coord int luck traps and perception"
Astraea says, "Traps will do various things."
Astraea says, "Some will hurt you..."
Astraea says, "others might hurt all in the room."
Astraea says, "many will be poisonous."
Astraea says, "Face it... if it exists in our magic so far it can exist on a trap."
Astraea says, "But I see that the alchemists might have a greater market for antidotes."
Astraea exclaims, "Alright Pae!"
Pae asks, "[Perception:]it's been useful out beyond the pass where some of the paths are hidden. Any chance we might look for hidden alleyways, trap doors and such here in the cities?"
Astraea says, "IT will come into play."
Astraea says, "There will be trap doors and places for perception to be used."
Astraea says, "Alright Dordie."
Dordie says, "I have two questions, really. 1. are traps (not traps on boxes) such as pit, tripwire, so on, being looked at? It frustrates me to see that I am capable of making all kinds of fun looking traps and yet I cannot actually make them :("
Astraea says, "Yes they are."
Astraea says, "Traps other than boxes are being looked at. In fact it came to my attention recently that my attention is required to make them work."
Astraea says, "I am going to meet with the trap guru soon on this matter."
Astraea says, "Ok second question"
Dordie asks, "and 2 (sorry to go back to stealing) will we ever be able to steal from npc's?"
Astraea says, "perhaps... but only if they steal more from you."
Astraea says, "Its possible I won't rule that out thogh there are no plans for it currently."
Astraea asks, "Alright next person... What do you wish to be Sabin to us all?"
Sabin asks, "I have two questions. 1. Is Flip dodge broken or not implemented? If not implemented yet is someone working on it and can we see it soon?"
Astraea asks, "The other tumbling moves all work for you?"
Sabin nods to Astraea.
Astraea says, "mmm"
Astraea says, "Well it will be implemented someday."
Astraea says, "But it doesn't exist yet and its not mine :)"
Sabin asks, "and we cant seem to tumble out to path.... is that a bug?"
Astraea asks, "Tumble path?"
Astraea says, "Its a feature."
Astraea says, "Sure you can thats called falling."
Astraea grins.
Sabin asks, "ok... and 2. what you have in mind for us that we've not even heard or thought about yet?"
Astraea says, "Oh evil person."
Astraea says, "Good question."
Astraea says, "Ok... Grinding of lockpicks. for one."
Astraea says, "A justice system to throw you in jail."
Astraea says, "Lets see. Thats it right off."
Astraea says, "Im sure more will occur down the road."
Astraea says, "But justice and picks come to mind off hand..."
Astraea says, "Otherwise... smithing is rattling around in my head."
Astraea says, "But smithing isnt really a rogue thinger."
Astraea says, "Gadgeets are."
Astraea winks.
Astraea exclaims, "Ok Vaftel!"
Vaftel says, "I just wanted to know if there was anymore info on smithing since the last time we talked"
Astraea says, "Alright. Im going to share my mindset with you. Yes some gadgets will be a alchemist... others more rogueish... others storytellers will excell with."
Astraea says, "Smithing will likely work similarly."
Astraea says, "Where if you want the best sword in the land you problaby want the metal worked by a warrior."
Astraea says, "Ok really its not hammered out and Im speculating purely on my own here so I do not want to speak of things that could be vetoed by others even if I think its likely to happen this way."
Astraea says, "Chemistry... is metal."
Vaftel asks, "So do you know when we'll be able to start mining?"
Astraea asks, "mining?"
Astraea asks, "what makes you think that we coul mine?"
Vaftel says, "Oh, a couple of things"
Astraea whistles innocently.
Astraea exclaims, "Ok I admit it I got to fix the mine verb so it says... I don't know what your talking about!"
Astraea flails her arms about.
Astraea pulls at a miners pick.
Astraea says, "yes its a predecessor to smithing."
Astraea exclaims, "So there you all learned one of my deep dark secrets!"
Astraea exclaims, "Im a closet miner!"
Astraea sobs.
Astraea says, "Alright question queue is now closed... those in it currently will get a chance."
Astraea says, "Garrock! Your turn again."
Garrock asks, "I was wondering... would gadget, smithing and other similar skills, when planed for on profession, be given other professional bonus to make them just better then the average of another profession also skilled in gadgets or smithing or some such?"
Astraea says, "Im not sure what you said but let me try to answer."
Astraea says, "If a item say a sword... gets a bonus for warriors..."
Astraea says, "Yes others could make them..."
Astraea says, "But not as well.."
Astraea says, "Extra skill would in part make up for this."
Garrock asks, "something like applying poison?"
Garrock says, "rather then making scarabs"
Astraea nods to Garrock.
Astraea says, "I think so."
Astraea says, "Again a system doesn't exist yet."
Astraea says, "Sunder? :)"
Sunder says, "I have a smithing question...."
Sunder asks, "if a part of smithing can be considered a warrior's area, why does it cost so much for us to learn it compared to an alchemist?"
Sunder says, "and from what you said, even if we do get a bonus to weapons, our skill is so lacking compared to an alchemist that unless its a huge bonus, I'd still go to an alchemist to make a weapon"
Astraea asks, "How much more does it cost?"
Denada says, "7"
Melodone says, "Compared to 5."
Astraea says, "You might get a huge bonus..."
Astraea says, "thats not that big of a difference."
Astraea says, "I wouldn't be too concerned with it we will make it work."
Astraea says, "if we decide that a warrior of 20th level should make a better sword than a alchemist of 20th level then they will :)"
Astraea says, "I don't think any profession gets more than 3 in a given skill."
Astraea asks, "exactly... you want to craft a perfect sword? you talking 1 handed or 2 handed?"
Astraea says, "alright I know you all have lots more questions and comments."
Astraea says, "But I think that we have had enough for tonight to think about."
Astraea smiles.
Astraea says, "We will do this again sometime in the future."
Astraea says, "I MIGHT] have a brainstorming session... next month... "
