The tamboura is India's ancient stringed instrument. Its resonant, hypnotic quality is one of the most distinctive features of indian classical music.
If a yogi listens with undivided attention to the sounds
of stringed instruments where resonance is prolonged,
he will finally be absorbed in the space of Consciousness
and will attain the state of the Self.
- Vijnana Bhairava
The sound of the tamboura resonates with the primordial sound "OM" from which all melodies arise and into which they subside. Accompanied by the tamboura, melodies no longer sound like separate notes, but blend together into an ocean of sound that quiets the mind and soothes the heart.

Tamboura's story ... how it all began.
Tamboura, daughter of Methos a Giant rogue, was born in the town of Sparta. When two of her sisters sent out a call for help from Athens, she set out on her long and adventurous journey through the realms of Hercules & Xena.
It was a dark and humid summer's night when she finally reached one of the Gates of Athens. No human being was in sight, no sound was heard. She felt uncomfortable in her surroundings and was scared. For hours she walked up and down the streets, trying to find some inhabitants, someone who could lead her to her sisters.
Finally she reached the temple of Hestia, where she found comfort and a place to rest. A grateful Tamboura offered some coal, and after her spirit was refreshed she wondered the streets of Athens yet again, still in search for her family or anyone who could help.
Suddenly she heard voices to the north and entered a marketplace flanked by the Peiraic Gate. She was taken aback by all the locomotion there, rogues sitting at the well, opening boxes, storytellers writing songs and performing their art, warriors, still dusty and wounded from battle, alchemists preparing their concoctions and some priests in their robes blessing passersby. She was too shy to speak or ask for help; it seemed that all these people knew each other well and she did not want to intrude in their interactions. So she sat and listened, thinking to herself : "Maybe someone will talk about my sisters".She overheard two warriors talk about some frightful skeletons invade the cemetery, so curious as she was, she followed them through the Gate, down a path and shrieked in horror when she saw them die right before her eyes; killed by a Centaur Zombie and a dozen skeletons. It was too late for her to retreat, everything blurred, she was knocked down, and hit by multiple swords. She knew she was going to die...

Out of nowhere a warrior came on the scene; seeing the priestess in distress, he asked if she needed any help and attacked the beasts, killing them swiftly one by one.
He was followed by his rogue companions who had watched this fight in hiding and made some cheeky comments, breaking the ice; so after the fight was over, all were laughing and joking. This is how Tamboura lost her heart for the first time. The warrior proposed to her fairly quickly and they went on to find her sister Ingvenonen, but heard that Zeus had sent her centaur sister Montag to Hades where she had to spend the rest of her days, only being able to resurface every full moon.
Tamboura went on to live a respected and happy live in Athens for many, many months. Along the way Tamboura made many friends and had very loyal and skillful hunting partners. One day, while hunting hyenas she was introduced to a very special rogue and his ferocious earthworm "Bumpy". They became best friends and he is to this day her true confidante.
She grew older and wiser and when the gods decided it was time to go on sabbatical, to review past actions and give choice to change habits, she aligned with Zeus, finally setting her long lost sister Montag free from Hades evil cluches.
Not long after this memorable day couriers came running through the streets telling of new found lands in the north. Without hesitation she went to Norway, fighting evil trolls and vikings. Her rogue friend came with her, but this was also the time of great upheaval in her private life. She and her fiancee had grown apart and their philosophy and outlook on life had changed. The inevitable happened - they went their different paths.
She spent many months in mourning, always comforted by her best friend and faithful hunting partner. Then the sky opened up, Zeus threw a lightning bolt her way and with utter clarity she saw what had happened to her ..she finally had found true love with the man, the rogue, who had always been on her side.
On his 30th birthday they declared openly their love for each other and were engaged one month later, hoping for a long and wonderful life. But all was not happy, forces unknown stood in their way; their union caused upheaval, jealousy and even a revolution amongst rogues was at hand.
To find peace and solitude they left yet again their home and went to the newly-discovered Egypt where they got married and live happily to this day.

Along the way I made many dear friends, great hunting partners and MY Mentors.
I want to thank each one of them separately here for their support and guidance, their friendship, their time...even when our parts are different now. I cherish the good memories of each one of you.
Randarr - who told me the way of the warrior, who made me Tamboura the warrior priestess, and told me at age 10 (when he was 22) that I would be taking him over and be one of the oldest characters in the game. His believe in me, his time and kindness had a great impact to who Tamboura became. Randarr, you will always be the greatest warrior for me!
Sabin - my rogue friend, my Mentor, who used to hunt with me late at night in
wolves, who opened my boxes and helped me in every possible way. What would I be without you?
Garrock - who used to open my first boxes, who always has been a friend.
Vaftel - who showed me the fast way out of Hades and helped me in many ways when we were both young, who taught me magic and helped me with the alchemist quest.
Pythos - who was always a friend, there to answer questions, there to hunt and support.
Oregano - who made me change my mind, to change from a two handed weapon user to a one hander, which was a major help and who gave me my very first forge at age 10 for free in sloth bears.
Emrys - who used to forge me up when I was still a spiritual priest and with Hestia for RP reasons.
Westley - pirate, friend, rogue, shameless flirt ...you been my hunting partner for many long month, we grew together and without you I would not have made it through my growing pains.
Vaage - my hunting partner in the early stages, who helped me with the Hades puzzle and in many other ways. I have good old memories of you, when we were young.
