-----Seth gets off his horse 'El Binko' and takes the reigns of the Dread Pirate’s pony, just so it does not wander off. It is indeed a wondrous experience to ride, but an even better one to get off the horse and relax those butt muscles.
-----Seth massages his cheeks, and then finds his sling and drapes it in his belt where it will be easy to find. He also puts his sling bullets in his pouch for easy access. Finally he feeds Albert the crow some of his favorite apple.
-----Sol nods to Raven and Gimplefwick and waits patiently in the saddle. He does grin at Seth's attempts to soothe his saddle sores.
-----Sarah remains mounted in her horse, which she has begun to call 'Marlexana' after the goddess of good fortune. She looks forward, but not at the glint, trying to avoid being blinded again. She eyes Gimplefwick’s departure with interest. To Seth she says, as if nothing else is going on, "How much magic do you know right now?"
-----Seth looks up at Sarah, "I am not really sure. I know a few things, and a friend has taught me some more. I really need to find someone to teach me properly. When you get the time, maybe tonight in camp you should tell me a bit more about these crystals. See if I know something that might help!"
-----Rinda had watched Raven, the Dread Pirate and the wolf vanish into the high brush and tangled bushes. Now she shifts in her saddle and notches an arrow in her long bow. Silently she scans the thicket that leads to the reflected light among the trees. Steeling herself for any sound carried on the breeze, she resembles a great cat ready to spring.
-----Grasping the reins, Kazel nudges her horse a little off from the main group, and settles down again watching from a slightly different angle. She then hunches down and waits, tapping idly on her cheek as she carefully scans the horizon all around her. Seth suddenly seems distracted as he watches Albert the Crow circle near the Trees. He suddenly snaps "There are small creatures in the trees waiting and they are armed. It could be an ambush!!!"
-----Sarah responds, "I know a lot of theory about magic. But as I'm sure you know, us wizards can only learn from experience. That is from casting the spells and learning them, not just reading about it. I don't have a lot of experience in these things, but anything I can teach you I'd be happy to. Do you have a spellbook? During our last trip a mage named Thalog and I exchanged some spells and that worked out pretty good. Would you wanna do that?"
-----"Yes I have a spell book. And yes I would like to exchange spells. It is good to meet someone else interested in spells. I also collect, you by chance would not have any pieces would you?" Seth seems distracted as he answers Sarah.
-----"Pieces? I have never encountered spells in parts before. No, I can't say I know what you are talking about." Despite Seth’s warning of an ambush Sarah doesn't seem to be paying much attention, other than a brief glance at the area the small creatures were hiding in.
-----"Ummm, oh yeah. I figured everyone knew about collecting, not spells but art work and sculpture and stuff." Seth's nerves or lack of them are beginning to show as he continues to watch the forest.
-----"Oh," Sarah sounds disappointed. "I do some sketching, but nothing major. I only collect magic. I think it’s the greatest form of art. Don't you?"
-----Sol turns his horse to face the direction of the creatures indicated by Seth. Still looking in that direction he dryly remarks, "I appreciate the need to get to know each other, but we need to be able to hear as well as see. Can ye save it for tonight? As soon as our scouts return, we'll deal with the creatures." Sol seems calm but his grip on the reins have tightened.
-----Seth just nods vaguely at Sarah heeding Sol's request to be quiet. He reaches into his pouch and breaks off a piece of his trusty pig fat and makes sure it is within easy reach.
-----One accomplishment of Seth's is the sudden distraction of Sol, who stares briefly at the pig fat in astonishment before muttering under his breath. He then returns to watch.
-----Sarah seems annoyed by all the happenings. "Of course we can't talk about art or magic right now, there’s some short monsters we need to hack up." She mutters under her breath. "Silly me, why didn't I see it?" Sarah growls and starts 'talking' to Chessie, who is sleeping under her robes.
-----Kazel occasionally glances over at Rinda for any sudden moves. She otherwise remains as she is, but starting to look more and more like she wishes she was somewhere else as the minutes tick by.
-----Rinda looks at Seth with confusion when he mentions small creatures in the trees. Suddenly in the distance is heard the sound of a dog or wolf barking. It is followed by a yell that sounds very much like the Dread Pirate.
