I've been drawing for a long time, but have been drawing animé style
and people for about a year and a half. I started doing people when I
found Jdillon's site and her tutorial. It was the first
straight-forward "this is how to do people" tutorial I'd ever seen on
the 'net, books, or anywhere. The next site I found that was a major
help was Polykarbon. He has tutorials for most anything. Links to
both of these sites are on the links page on my site, under
'tutorials.'
Basically, for a beginner, I'd recommend getting books from the library
and looking at tutorials on the 'net. If you follow what they say, and
draw at least 5+ times a week you should start to get the hang of it.
!!Pitfalls that beginners must avoid!!
*Don't compare yourself to others, just to yourself.
*Don't wad up anything you're working on, finish all drawings you start.
*Never take criticism personally.
Drawing is not all that hard, it's just time-consuming. A "quick"
drawing for me is half and hour, so don't expect to draw your best in
10 minutes. Often a picture will look pretty terrible to me, until I
put the very last touches on it.
That's about everything. Follow these guides and you'll be on the road
to being a good artist.

Raynon
