Alex is a very skilled and powerful, yet cocky, fighter from Manhattan. He resides with his family friend, an ex-soldier Tom, and his daughter Pauline. Tom took Alex in after his father died and cared for him like a son, and even taught Alex how to fight. Alex now lives with Tom and his daughter Pauline, and his own daughter, Patricia. Alex eventually signed up for the military forces, and while away, made quite a reputation for himself as a great Street Fighter.

When Alex returned, he found that Tom had been defeated and gravely injured by a mysterious man named Gill. It seemed that Gill had visited Tom in hopes of recruiting Alex for his own personal army. But Tom refused, and Gill brutalized him as a message to Alex: join him or worse would happen to Tom, and perhaps Patricia and Pauline as well. So an angered Alex went out in search of Gill, and entered the third Street Fighter tournament in his quest for revenge.

Alex impressed many, including Gill himself, with his power and skill. But like the other fighters, he was playing Gill's game. He found himself captured by Gill's forces, and was set to become Gill's next super-soldier when he was freed by an undercover Chun Li. Escaped, Alex encountered an enraged Necro about to kill a helpless Ibuki. Intervening, he saved Ibuki and defeated Necro.

Returning home, Alex found a nearly recovered Tom and a happy Pauline awaiting his return. Alex said that he found something on his journey. He realized that there were many strong fighters out there, and decided that it was time that he ventured out into the world and proved his worth.
