Birdie is a former street thug turned hired bouncer turned Street Fighter. Birdie has a fondness for leather and chains, as his lifestyle can attest. Birdie entered the first Street Fighter tournament representing England on the promise of prize money, but was quickly defeated, and returned to his catch as can catch lifestyle. Hearing that a new and powerful organization which could be the key to riches, Birdie joins the Alpha tournament in search of a lead to this organization, as it was said that they were in seacrh of the greatest Street Fighters around to be enforcers for the syndicate.

Birdie impresses M. Bison a great deal with his tenacity and strength. So much so that he offers Birdie one of the initial positions of the Four Lords of the Shadowloo. Birdie accepts, but upon finding out Bison's true goal (world domination, duh...) Birdie backs out and barely escapes Shadowloo with his life...
