Once a member of the fallen Mad Gear gang, a menacing group of street thugs and criminals, Sodom yearns for the power and prestige of his former days as a figurehead in the Mad Gear organization. Though Sodom was born American, he considers himself Japanese in every way, and wears a mask to conceal his American heritage. A master of weapons, Sodom enters the Alpha tournament seeking vengeance on one of those instrumental for the fall of the Mad Gear--Guy...
Since weapons are not allowed in the tournaments, Sodom is forced to abandon his Katanas and fight using his jitte (a type of sai), even though that is STILL bending he rules somewhat (an angry Sodom can be VERY convincing!). And so, Sodom entered the Alpha tournaments in search of Guy, but was quickly defeated by the competition.
In the second tournament, Sodom brought help in his search for Guy, the powerful egotist known as Rolento. With Rolento's help, Sodom nearly defeated Guy, but was halted when Rolento was intercepted by Ryu. Not so outnumbered, Guy was able to overcome Sodom while Ryu dealt with Rolento. Defeated, Sodom returned to America and reunited with the Mad Gear gang, led by Rolento...But again, he yearned for Japan, and travelled there after some time. He, for some reason or another took up sumo wrestling, until he was soundly beaten by E. Honda, whom was known back then as Fuyinoma. After his defeat, Sodom realized his mistake in thinking he could ever be fully Japanese, and returned to America and Metro City.
