The Aftermath

 The Death of Black Sun

With the death of Savan and several of its Vigos, Black Sun begins to disintegrate. Several more Vigos are captured and arrested by the New Republic, while the remainder either retire or go into hiding to escape the reprisal of the authorities. The now-headless organization quickly falls into chaos as former lieutenants wrest for control over the dying syndicate. The post of Underlord is forgotten, as the petty "warlord Vigos" concentrate on infighting. Black Sun is broken into smaller criminal cells, each with rivalries against all the others and without strong leadership. Without a centralized command, they are powerless against the New Republic and Empire as the two authority powers sweep up what remains of the once-glorious criminal empire. By the time of the conquest of Coruscant, Black Sun is legally (or rather, illegally) dead. It will be years before even its weakened, reanimated corpse will arise to threaten the New Republic again.

See the Compleat History of Black Sun section for more details.

Where Are They Now?

Torill suffered a badly wounded leg from the battle. The numerous injuries it sustained caused bad damage to the nervous system that could not be completely healed, even by a medbot. He refused to get a prosthetic, however, preferring to walk with a limp. Needless to say, his days of action are over, but the wound suited his settling down to an early retirement on Soccorro nicely. He avoided the death throes of Black Sun, preferring to try and find a normal life on his small ranch just outside Vakeyya. He lived with Saalia and, after the birth of Kit, was preoccupied with the bringing-up of the young Hendyker- especially after Saalia's death, which he blamed himself for, believing that his criminal past had come back to haunt him. He refused to talk about his days in Black Sun, even after moving to a townhouse inside Vakeyya to try and escape the burnt-out ranch and give Kit a "normal life."

However, by the time of the NJO, his stormy relationship with Kit, the galactic crisis of the Vong invasion and Torill's own mid-age crisis bring him back into the criminal element.... but that story remains to be told.

Zolar, who escaped the battle relatively unharmed (as usual), soon received notice from the Rebellion that his status as privateer was revoked... and replaced with an official commission of captain of the New Republic Cruiser Rameseum M4. He accepted, and led the M4 to glory in many of the major battles of the New Republic, including the Battle of Coruscant, the Battle of Kashyyk, the fight against Warlord Zsinj, and the battles with Grand Admiral Thrawn. He never stopped being Zolar, however, and his "personal pursuits" often infuriated the higher-ups. However, his skills and dedication kept him in high regard, and he served the New Republic for nearly 20 years before "retiring" for personal pursuits - you know, pirating, smuggling, and bar-owning. Of course, Zolar could never retire completely...

Tu'ebb began a community outreach program on Jusenkyo III, giving disadvantaged youth a chance to be constructive by teaching them martial arts. His special "Twi'lek style" caught on, so quickly that it became a sector and then galaxy-wide fad. He was given the chance to star as the hero in several action holos, including the smash hit Drunken Jedi Master, where he made his distinctive mark with his silent, menacing figure and deadly mad skillz. His reputation throughout the Core outlasted even the fad he started, and by the time of the NJO a resurgence in the style is underway.

Ramses was rebuilt by Zolar with a brand-new chassis after his untimely defeat and demolition by Guraquay. Though he stayed in service to Zolar, the New Republic took a dim view of a heavily-armed and rampant droid on board one of their cruisers and required that his weapon systems be downgraded to a safer level. Though miffed at this incredible display of the oxymoron of military intelligence, Ramses managed to get around it in a typically Zolar fashion; using a mock-Ramses made from a protocol droid to "stand in" for Ramses when the New Republic was inspecting. This freed the real Ramses up to keep doing what he does best for Zolar and the M4. Ramses also discovered that he could expand his abilities by spending much of his time "out-of-body." Durandal's transfer of Ramses' consciousness to the Ram-fighter opened his scanners, and he is now quite happy with "switching" between his body, the Ram-fighter, the Ram-tank and the various computer systems and droids of the M4. Though somewhat resented by Durandal for the intrusion, Ramses has proven his worth by taking control of the M4's guns without even physically being there to aim them, as well as serving in many other aspects to the cruiser and its illustrious captain.

Sprax retired as head of Jatayus and Vigo of Black Sun. He left the organization in the wings of Kisquar and retired to his estate on Novor XIII, where he spent the rest of his days quietly in a restful seclusion. The wound he received never healed completely, however, and he died quietly of complications several years after the collapse of his former organization. Of his former agents, only Torill and Zolar went to his sparsely-attended funeral... but then, he probably would have wanted it that way.

Saalia, after alternately saving and being saved by Torill in the final battle, seemed to finally realize that there was affection and chemistry between the two. She tended to Torill's wound throughout his recovery and aided him as he regained his feet, and though he was a little bewildered at first, he was truly grateful for the care. The two developed a bond, and Saalia accompanied Torill when he retired to Socorro, Saalia securing full New Republic pardons for the whole crew in the process. Though there was never an official 'marriage' between the two, they lived together and she sired their only daughter, Kit. Tragically, only a few years after Kit's birth, Saalia was killed when criminals led by Prevaro (Savan's former expeditor) recognized Torill, tracked him to his ranch and attacked in the night. Though her death was tragic, she died doing what she swore to do when she joined the Marshals: serve and protect. The entire Rameseum crew and the crew of the M4 attended her funeral.

Umino and the Rabble stayed with Zolar for the most part, working hard and staying dedicated to their ship and captain, though few could ever really explain why. Que'paca recovered from his wounds and retained his role as helmsman, Valentine became second-in-command, and Umino always did what suited him best: serving beer to anyone and everyone. Nom Anor predictably disappeared after a short time, Chief never did a bit of work, Tek became bald at 32, That Duros Guy continued to remain anonymous, Yossarian managed to show off even when sitting down and the Roach was always there to make life miserable for the crew and droids of the M4. Durandal continued on his slow, steady quest to make the ship HIS by installing comlink receivers on the mouse droids, allowing him to continue operating the ship even if his hardline was cut. Though life became more regimented under the New Republic, the crew's unique personality remains true to this day. Crewmates may come and go, but the Rameseum lives on.

Savan was killed in the cockpit of the Virago II. As she made a last-ditch enraged attack on the M4, she was snagged by the VT2's grappling launcher and destroyed by Ramses (in fighter mode). Her last words were of how Black Sun could not live without her rule. Tu'ebb responded that by fighting her, they were giving it a chance to try. The Virago was destroyed when the missiles hit its unarmored back.

Avvin fought death tooth and nail, but was shot by Saalia and Torill in the bowels of the M4. His undying hatred of Torill- that the smuggler could be so lucky and so successful naturally, without the hellish training Avvin had undergone- eventually led to his death. He finally died with a gun in his hand and a grimace of frenzied dismay on his face.

Hobbes was killed in the battle when he was shot by Torill after an ambush gone wrong. His dying wish was to tell his son, a Trianni resistance leader in the Corporate Sector, that he was sorry for not being there for him, a wish that Torill granted for his old nemesis.

Guraquay finally suceeded in fulfilling the will of Quay. He vanquished the (albeit weakened) Ramses in a duel, and plunged his sword in the WST-M pack, triggering a huge fusion explosion that brought down the building, incinerated Guraquay and nearly killed Ramses. The key word there being "nearly." His legend lives on in the minds of the Weequay, however, and though his cult more or less vanishes overnight, he became a sort of folk hero on Sriluur, inspiring generations of impressionable young Weequay to rattle the saber of jihad for a few years before they move on to a lucrative job of skiff-guarding for a Hutt crimelord.

Cpt. Javier was on the bridge when the Penetrator hit dirt. Though most of the crew survived relatively unscathed, due to the skill of the helmsman, a falling girder collapsed on and instantly killed Javier. His last words were of how he'd get Zolar, next time.... The Penetrator could not be salvaged and was left where it lay. It eventually became a pirate and smuggler's haven, and its hulk was converted into a base by the time of the NJO.

Dex and Leda married soon after their cameo in the final battle, making a classic underworld romance that was the envy of all they met. After Kisquar's organization collapsed in the Sisar, Dex began a loose, openly secret smuggling ring that began to replace Jatayus in the battleground Sisar. Though outnumbered in organization and muscle by the Hutts and the resurgence of pirates (including Blalock), Sisar Hydrospanners Inc (the unofficial wink-wink-nudge-nudge name of the group) more or less controlled illegal shipments in the Run... because everyone knew someone who could transport a few hydrospanners for a friend.

The Vigos were few after the final battle. Vekker was mistakenly shot attempting to escape, as was Clezo as he tried to free himself from the guards. Wumdi was arrested outside the building and put behind bars for good, while Neomen was tracked down by the NR and put on trial for war crimes. He got off on an insanity plea and was put in the Arkham V planetary asylum for mental counseling. He escaped after about five years, however, and is currently at large.

Those who survived and avoided capture- Durga, Kree'tah, Leanna and Sprax- tried to take a low profile from the chaos that reigned after Savan's death. Durga, being a Hutt, retained his criminal standing for long after the apocalypse, though he dropped the title of Vigo. He later rose to take a lead role in the reincarnation of Black Sun years later, but died when he choked on a piece of food as he laughed maniacally. Leanna resigned from Maeblon, Inc. soon after and took a very low profile with a small-time cosmetics boutique on Calamari. Kree'tah had much of his organization attacked and destroyed by the Imperials, but after the New Republic's victory noone took up the investigation again, and Kree'tah ruled over a reduced criminal organization until his retirement, when his daughter took up the reins.

Guri was reactivated by Zolar and given her freedom. After realizing her "mistress" was dead, Guri decided she might get used to this idea of "freedom." She took Umino's old ship (yes, that one) and flew off, eventually meeting Dash Rendar in a spaceport bar...

Kisquar was promoted to Vigo when Sprax retired, but oddly enough couldn't find out how to contact the Crew to make them do work. Kisquar was new to Vigodom, however, and didn't have the kind of skills necessary to keep an already sinking ship patched up. He fled from a coup only months after taking the job, and his current whereabouts are unknown.

Squisher and Ortugg disappeared shortly after the final battle, after being assigned to routine escape pod safety checks. This fact, combined with a mysteriously missing escape pod, lead most of the crew to believe that they are probably alive, well, and drooling... the Force doesn't let cretins that bloody stupid exist without a purpose in life. Though their current whereabouts are unknown, it is probably only a matter of time before they turn up again...
