Final Fantasy VIII sports a whole new battlesystem with commands such as "Guardian Force", "Draw", and "Blade Combo". In the world of FF8 magic is scarce and only used by those who are powerful enough to control it. This is where the "Draw" command comes in to play. Magic is now obtained during battle with the "Draw" command. Players select the draw command and an enemy or enemies. The character then has a chance of drawing in magic from the selected targets. The magic can then be used immediately or stocked for later use. This stock feature replaces the MP used in previous final fantasies. Fans of Breath of Fire III will be able to relate to this through the BOF3 command "examine". "Guardian Force" replaces the summon command. Square has not revealed much on this feature but have said that players can select the Guardian Force command and choose which Guardian Force member they wish to summon. The "Blade combo" is one of Squall's unique attacks. It is a series of sword and gunfire attacks. It is not known yet how to access this attack and what its damage factors depend on.
