-----As Sol and Lovan dismount, yells and angry snarls are heard as humanoids approach. Out of the dark huge forms loom and the glint of reddish eyes are seen charging forth. Lovan raises his warhammer in their direction and intones, “In the name of the Great Rager, Run in Fear before me!”
-----Almost immediately, the air is rent with howls and screams of fright! Over a dozen soldiers turn and flee away from Lovan and Sol, some dropping their weapons as they go!
-----One soldier, however, continues forward until he reaches within a few yards of the two heroes. Suddenly realizing that he is alone in the charge, the hobgoblin stops in his tracks and pauses uncertainly. Looking around, the soldier makes to dash off into the darkness.
-----"Damn it Lovan, I want them dead, not running fer th' hills!" Sol's anger doesn't really seem directed at Lovan, and the Gorian seems to be straining his senses for any sign of more foes. Relying on what he can see and hear, the young warrior moves forward decisively, his sword held out behind him. A quick hand gesture and a whistle for Thunder direct the others to follow.
-----As he walks a few yards, an orange haze hangs over where tents have been relit. As he walks to the right, Sol can see them; pairs of hobgoblins and orcs engaged in battle. Perhaps twenty of each left, these must be the last of all the soldiers left here fighting what seems to be a useless battle. Other than the fighting, Sol’s surroundings are destroyed tents on a hill overlooking the river.
-----Sol grinned wolfishly, regretting that Raven wasn't here to indulge his own fury at orc-kind. Still, the Gorian warrior figured he could fill in for his friend here. Raising the Lathanian blade high and offering a wordless call of battle, the Stormbringer pounds forward as fast as he could in the plate armour. He was here to vanquish these foes until none stood, and although they would all fall, unconsciously Sol found himself targeting the hobgoblins more often than the orcs.
-----Just as Sol and Lovan rush forward, a shadowy form leaps out from among the torn tents to the right. Twin short swords catch the light of the blazing tents as they extend from strong arms like the claws of some hunting beast. The swords pierce an orc soldier before it could react and it instantly dropped dead. By a flickering lightning flash, Sol could see Raven step across the body.
-----“Ha! Ha!” Lovan shouts with an uncharacteristic reaction of joy before bringing his warhammer to bear.
-----The Lathanian sword banged into a hobgoblin shield, which seemed to send a sickening ringing sound across the scene of battle. More than one humanoid looked up in surprise and a few held horrified expressions. As the hobgoblin turned toward Sol, the Gorian ran his sword across the humanoid’s gut slowing it. The hobgoblin, in retaliation, tried to strike out at Sol, but it fumbled its weapon. In the next moment, it fell to the young warrior.
-----Two ripping sounds accompanied the destruction of two orcs by Raven’s hands. Many of the soldiers, orcish and hobgoblin, suddenly looked as if they were ready to run from the battle. One orc swept back with a lucky strike and scratched Raven across the arm with its sword. The hunter simply cast a grim smile before slaying it.
-----A hobgoblin misses Lovan as the storm priest slams his warhammer into the humanoid’s shield.
-----Raven takes down two more orcs as they attempt to flee the area. The hunter practically takes the head off of one; his attack so vicious.
-----Sol downs another hobgoblin and is suddenly frustrated as more humanoids try to flee. The Gorian leaps over bodies and tries to catch a trio of soldiers moving from him.
-----Lovan remains locked in his battle with his opponent; neither foe striking a hit.
-----With a flurry of metal blade shining in the fire light, Sol catches up to the three soldiers and slams his sword into one which falls into the two other hobgoblins. One jumps up only to have Sol’s sword slice through its chest. The Gorian reverses his swing and thrusts into the gut of the next one to rise. The third falls with a wicked gash to its neck.
-----Raven hacks into the shoulder of an orc which falls dead. The move causes Raven to sink to his knee, a sudden spasm of pain grapping his left side. The hunter is all right, but he pants a moment from the exertion.
-----Lovan finally slams his warhammer into his opponent.
-----None of the humanoids are left fighting each other as about a dozen orcs and about fifteen hobgoblins flee into the dark.
-----Shaking his head grimly at the fleeing humanoids, Sol realizes that this battle may well be over sooner than he'd hoped. Scowling slightly at his own lust to hunt the hobgoblins down further, the Gorian finds something to use as a makeshift torch, lighting it with the remains of a burning tent. He then grabs Thunder and remounts. Despite his black mood, relief and pleasure light Sol's face as he calls to Raven, "Good t'see ye here. I'm going t'head t'where th' river prisoners were kept t'make sure we have no lingerers, then head back int' town t'help clean up. Ye want t'make sure these bastards keep running fer now? Either way, I'll see ye back in the town square."
-----Nodding to Lovan, Sol sets off holding the torch high. As quickly as he can safely guide through the dimly lit area, together horse and rider head towards where the Stormbringer originally found the slave pens.
