-----The young warrior's reason for heading off into battle first was the same as always. The first wave was more likely to draw more attacks, that way Sol's companions would be that much safer if he was the one doing it.
-----At least that was the old Sol's reason. It still abided now, but for a while the urge to enter the fray had changed from enjoyment and concern for friends into something darker, more violent.
-----As Sol's body shuddered with each pounding step he ran, he could feel the earth beneath him begin to shake as the horned ones' own charge drew near. It served to reinforce the image in Sol's mind of the turmoil and thundering of a rolling storm. The Stormbringer's cry to his god uttered moments before was silently repeated as the inevitable clash drew near, and a yell of pure fury was forming on his lips as he pulled his sword back for that first fateful swing . . .
-----All of the horned monsters charge now in the direction of the ridgeline with heads down and horns dangerously reflecting the light. A crazed gleam is there in the hideous eyes and their breath seems to blast forth from their nostrils.
-----Just as Sol comes within closing distance of the lead creature, he locks eyes with it. A fury that seems to match the young stormbringer's dwells in those wild dark eyes and now only seconds must pass before the clash occurs.
-----Very quickly four bolts of magical energy soars over Sol's head and strikes his foe. All four impact into the monster and, even though they do take their toll upon it, the monster bares through it not slowing its pace. In fact, the creature seems all the more enraged.
-----The Lathanian blade, already drawn back, swings forth to strike! And strike it does, although the weapon rings off one of the monster's horns drawing the sword and Sol's arm back and up. The young warrior gets a blast of hot air from the creature's nostrils. Luckily, at the last moment, Sol is able to sidestep the monster as it roars past him.
-----With his sword raised high, Sol then brings his ancient weapon down upon the bestial thing's back slicing into its thick hide. Drawing much blood and shattering a few bones, Sol then draws his blade back as the monster begins to slow. It bellows angrily as it turns and snorts, glaring murderously at the warrior who hurt it.
-----As the line of seven other monsters charge past, the creature quickly advances on Sol with its huge axe raised in its hands. Sol can see just over the monster's shoulder, Sarah standing in the field in the path of the monsters' charge.
-----Meanwhile, the orc who painfully tries to beat at Raven's wolf to release its arm finds that something grasps its sword arm. Looking up, the orc stares into Raven's eyes. With hardly a flinch, Raven's short sword impales the orc's chest and the humanoid falls dead.
-----The wolf then drops the dead orc's arm and looks at the charging creatures. It backs up and whines looking at Raven for his reaction.
-----"Run, Sarah!" Rinda shouts a few feet behind the mage. "We don't have time to cast something this close." The Huntress then offers up a prayer to the Great Hunter.
-----Garrison stops the orcish blade with the heft of his battleaxe. He then tries to throw his opponent backwards. The woodsman succeeds and the orc actually loses its balance. Garrison then slams his axe down toward its prone body but the humanoid quickly rolls over causing him to miss.
-----Pil's orc jabs at him again but it misses when the bronze warrior spins away from the attack. With his momentum, Pil then brings his sword across biting deeply into the orc's neck. It then falls dead.
-----The orc facing Strolum thrusts in and greatly wounds the red-headed warrior. As Strolum limps back, he sweeps with his sword only drawing a scratch on the humanoid. In the next instant, Dilton is there and deals such a blow on the orc that it drops dead to the ground. Seeing the charging creatures and feeling the rumble through the ground, Dilton stoops to drag Strolum back from the fray.
-----"Great Rager!" Lovan shouts from the ridgeline, "if you will not give me clouds to deliver your fury, let now my warhammer be the instrument of destruction!" With that, the storm priest raises his weapon high and begins charging toward one of the approaching monsters.
-----Raven gives the wolf a hand signal to stay with Rinda. Raven then turns to see Sol's battle. "Good, they bleed." Raven says to himself as he coldly studies the new creatures for a brief time and then heads towards the creatures.
-----Raven moves low to the ground and hopes that his speed might help him in battle.
-----Seeing the hulking creature in between himself and Sarah drove the Gorian into a frenzy. He leapt at the injured beast and savagely thrust forward with his blade, not thinking enough to be aiming anywhere in particular. As he did, Sol called hoarsely over his foes' shoulder, "Sarah! Fall back behind the others! Now!"
