Chapter 5: The Trinity Seekers!
The Eighth of Greentide, D.Y. 500
-----At the head of the group are three young people, one woman and two men, clothed in robes featuring orange and brownish hues. They look very much like spellcasters and their eyes seem focused on the dead lizard. The rest of their party is made up of six warriors armored in chain.
-----Seeing the adventurers looking at them suddenly causes the three robed people to nervously react. They raise their arms and extend their hands in a non-threatening manner. Their guards look cautiously at the adventurers' party while resting their hands near their sword hilts.
-----"Forgive us," one of the robed men says. His youthful beardless chubby face is framed in brownish hair. "We did not mean to intrude upon you, my good people."
-----"Yes," the other robed man adds, "We heard the sound of fighting as we were passing this place and thought someone may need help." This young man is a bit taller and thinner than the first with brownish hair that is much longer and curlier.
-----The woman with them has straight long blondish hair. "Is there anyone among you who is hurt?" she says in a concerned but friendly voice.
-----Raven turns to Rinda, "Nice shot, my love!" He walks up to the dead lizard and inspects Rinda's shot. Raven nods and then pulls the arrow free. He then returns the arrow to Rinda, saying, "Best keep this arrow for luck."
-----Sensing no danger, Raven cleans his swords off and then puts them away.
-----Raven then gives his attention to the three strangers. He looks the three over, but says nothing to them. Raven then looks at their six guards and tries to read if they are mercs or regular army.
-----Raven looks over to Garrison, "You want them to look at you? You are hurt pretty bad."
-----Sol steps away from the vine-covered exit and resheathes his blade as he considers the new arrivals. He then quickly looks over at Garrison and tries to gauge the severity of the ranger's leg wound. Sol purses his lips at the man, before walking towards the center of the courtyard, eyeing the new group once more.
-----"Good day t'ye all, my name is Sol Herron. We appreciate th' offer o' aid, an' if my friend wishes your healing he'll let ye know." The warrior then glances at the area where he slew the hobgoblins before continuing, "We seem t'have stumbled into some sort o' inhabited ruins. That's two lots o' hobgoblins we've dealt with, both which I believe were patrols. Which would mean that there is something, or some group here worth flushing out."
-----Sol's head tilts as he asks curiously of the three robed ones, "What brings followers o' th' Law god through this particular stretch o' land?"
-----Rinda smiles widely at Raven as she takes her arrow. The huntress, however, remains silent as she stays behind her hunter while watching the strangers.
-----Sol's question brings wide smiles to the three people in robes. "Excellent deduction!" the girl says to the young warrior and her blue eyes seem to sparkle with delight. "Yes, we are followers of the Great Giver of Laws although our interests are of, of course, a magical nature."
-----The young man with the longer brown hair adds, "We were hoping to journey to Rushfen to gain an audience with the Lady Evalyn. Our journey has been slow through this territory, however, and we were thinking of heading back across the river into Goldren or perhaps Hearthorn."
-----The chubbier young man then speaks up, saying, "Forgive our manners. I am known as Quade. My friends are Kantar and Ursulena. We call ourselves the Trinity Seekers for the Truth of Maxim." He motions to his two companions as he speaks.
-----Quade then points to one of the guards with them. "We are working in association with Edwin Farrington and his trained guardsmen who have been kind enough to join us in our expeditions."
-----The head guardsmen and the rest of the small troop nod respectfully and politely to the adventurers.
-----"Sorry to butt in," Garrison says, "but if anyone has something for my wounds, I sure would thank you. That one lizard back there got its mouth on my leg and gave me one hell of a bite before my friends took care of it." The woodsman then eases himself down on the stones of the courtyard holding onto his leg and his color looks a bit pale.
-----"Oh, . . . yes . . . forgive me!" The young woman says as she begins fumbling in a pouch of her robes. She quickly comes up with a vial of pinkish liquid. Ursulena then rushes it over to the woodsman telling him, "Here! Drink this! It's a potion of healing!"
-----Garrison takes the vial and says, "Thanks, I hate to sound like I'm whining, but . . ." The woodsman then drinks the vial without finishing his sentence. In the next few moments, his color improves and though his leg is not fully healed, he stands back up.
