Sit down, and fastern your harness, the future of racing is upon us. Pygnosis has tried to keep everything retained from previous versions of Wipeout yet have added many new features and modes. WO3 has 5 modes in which to play including - Tournament, Challenge, Death match style Eliminator, and of course split screen two player gaming. You'll find 8 highly detailed and futuristic tracks on which to race, ranging from industrial-themed wastelands to dimly lit treacherous tunnels, keeping an ominous type mood. There are new craft designs, as well as three new teams to go along with the five from Wipeout XL. WO3 hits home with awesome weapons such as plasma shots, Homing Missile's and the Force Wall.
Graphically, it is very impressive for a playstation game, with very fast frame rates, and virtually no pop-up. The controls have had an upgrade, and a hyperthrust buttom has been added. The Air Brakes and steering allow corners to be taken with great precision.
The Sounds are very good, including Music from DJ Sasha, The Chemical Brothers and the Propellerheads, and sound fx ranging from explosions to engine hum are close to perfect.
Overall, its a pretty kick ass game, and easily the best futuristic type race game on the playstation console to date.
