Dragall's Cardea Page

First, a note from the author:

I've tried to include as much information about the game and its inhabitants as I could.  If anything is wrong, let me know about it.  If there's anything you feel should be included, but is not, please email it to me!  I could always use new stories and profiles.

Cardea Basics:

Cardea is a MUG (Multi User Game) based in a high fantasy world, where players create characters to roleplay with.  Roleplaying is when you assume the role of a character, either one you created or someone else did, and try to dictate that character's actions according to his/her persona.  Often people create characters based on their own personality, so that it is easy to roleplay, but some roleplayers consider creating characters with totally different personalities as part of the fun.

Also, remember that Cardea is brand new and under construction.  In fact, it isn't even officially open to the public.  Many functions and abilities are not complete, or even not designed yet.  You can help make Cardea even better by reporting bugs and submitting any ideas you have.

Typing 'bug <detailed description of bug>' will report a bug.
Typing 'idea <description of idea>' will submit your idea.
Replace the <>s with whatever it tells you to enter inside the <>s.

For example, if you wanted to let the administration know that the room named 'Flour Garden' should really be spelled 'Flower Garden,' you'd type 'bug The room named Flour Garden should be spelled Flower Garden'

How to reach Cardea:

You can reach Cardea by using a telnet program or specialized client to connect to cardea.mudservices.com port 23.

Cardea also has a web page at http://www.cardea-rpg.com.

The main god and administrator of Cardea is Tarkun-Alteron.
You can email Tarkun-Alteron at:  darren@alchera.prestel.co.uk

The other administrative god is Ashalon.
You can email Ashalon at:   ashalon@cardiff-net.co.uk

Cardean Guilds:

Many characters choose to join a guild to gain access to the powerful, specialized attacks they offer.  Each of the guilds has a different style of attacks.  While you are playing Cardea, typing 'guilds' will give you a list of all the active guilds.  Be aware that if you don't see something you like, there are many guilds that are not active or not visible on the list yet.  You don't even have to join a guild; some characters choose not to join a guild, and instead improve the basic skills which all Cardeans can learn.  In many cases, the basic skills can be just as powerful, or even stronger than, the guild skills.

Guild Descriptions:

 The Alchemists' Guild
Alchemists produce Cardea's potions.  Potions are always in high demand, so alchemists enjoy a status of neutrality and rich profits.  Alchemists have also learned the powers of Runelore and creating magical items in addition to their namesake, Alchemy.

The Diabolists' Guild
Diabolists are powerful sorcerors dedicated to the dark arts.  Black magic and demon summoning are their primary abilities.  This is one of the largest and most powerful guilds in Cardea, and their members stick together.

 The Druids' Guild
The Druids are the healers of the land.  Well versed in the magic of healing and knowledgable about plants that grow in the wild, Druids are respected for their ability to heal any wound.

The Knights' Guild
The Knights are the warriors of light.  They are highly skilled in the arts of physical combat.  In addition, Knights have the ability to repair armor that gets damaged in the field.

The Mages' Guild
The Mages are, as the name implies, men and women dedicated to the study of magic.  With their powerful Arcana skill, an adept Mage is a force to be reckoned with.

The Necromancers' Guild
The Necromancers are sorcerors of death.  Little is known about this guild, as they do not appear on the GUILDS list.

The Rangers' Guild
The Rangers are warriors dedicated to protecting nature.

The Templars' Guild
The Templars are the warriors of Darkness.  They are highly skilled in the arts of physical combat.

The Thieves' Guild
The Thieves are exactly that:  characters trained in the art of sneaking around and robbing people.  It should also be noted that some Thieves prefer to kill their victims before robbing them or kill victims for money, and hence, they are also masters of backstabbing and assassination.  Thieves are also quite crafty when it comes to constructing clever traps.

The Troubadours' Guild
The Troubadours are entertainers of Cardea.  This guild is rather small and new, and as far as I know, they have no skills.

 The Fools' Guild
The incredible Fools' Guild is still not active and it has no skills yet!  Please nag Tarkun to open this guild to the public and code its skills.  If you click on the link, I've uploaded the proposed list of skills.  This is similar to what's in the guild helpfile, but the helpfile is not visible to mortals outside the guild.

The Gods of Cardea:

Cardea is a land of magic and mystery, and no land of magic would be complete without divine beings, to watch over, guide, and intervene from time to time.  Though there are countless gods in the universe, only a few have chosen to actively gather mortal followers.

Tarkun-Alteron:
Tarkun-Alteron is the creator of Cardea.  His power is almost limitless.  Few choose to become His followers, and He accepts even fewer.  The reasons He picks certain people to become His followers are unknown.  He has been known to sometimes raise His followers to a level of power that is considered Godhood by the people of Cardea.

Untergrax:
Born during the creation from excess energy, Untergrax is the God of Chaos.  He is as powerful as Tarkun and dedicated to undoing all that Tarkun has wrought.  He too has the power to raise his followers to godhood.

Ashalon:
The God of Darkness.  His followers dedicate their lives to spreading evil throughout the land.  Ashalon was one of the Elrohim (sp?).  He was corrupted by Untergrax and fought a war against Tarkun-Alteron.  In the end, Tarkun-Alteron was not able to destroy Ashalon, but rather sealed Him away.  Since then, Ashalon has somehow escaped, and now gathers followers to serve His dark will.
        High Priest: Midian

Avenlora:
The Goddess of Nature.  Her followers are dedicated to protecting nature in any form.  She loved the forest where She grew up and was granted special powers to bond Her to the forest by Tarkun-Alteron.  When the war with Ashalon ravaged the land, Lora, as She was called then, sacrificed Her life to save the last flower.  Tarkun-Alteron made Her Avenlora the Healer and elevated her to godhood as a reward for this action.
        High Priestess: Aliya

Dante:
The Goddess of Fate.  Dante controls the fates of mortals, and some say even the fates of the gods.  (Webmaster's note: Dante used to be a male, but has since decided to change genders.)
        High Priest: Lloren

Janus:
The God of Light.  His followers are the champions of good and justice.  He has been known to intervene in the affairs of mortals often.  (Webmaster's note: Janus has not been seen in the land for quite some time.)

Levana:
The Goddess of Newborns.  She has no order, instead, She assists newborns (new players or newbies) with getting accustomed to the MUG.  Levana sometimes rewards older players who help newborns.
        High Priest: Pan (CCC)

Revelation:
The most recent Person to join the ranks of the Divine.  Revelation is the God of Truth, Enlightenment, and Valour.
        High Priest: Calleigh

Wraith:
        PeekaBOO!

The Cities of Cardea:

The Cities are the great settlements and political bodies of the realm.  Often, they control or have great influence in the surrounding territory.

Arboria:
Arboria is a Republic located in Stonetroll forest.  The city is lead by Creelen.

Maine:
Maine is a Democratic trade city located in the north by the sea.  The city is lead by Governor Marley.

Murkyin:
Nothing is known about Murkyin yet.  It is not available.

Nineveh:
The great and powerful Empire of Nineveh is located to the south.  Currently Nineveh is in a civil war between Asmodai (King/Aristocracy) and Azrael (Emperor/Imperialism).

Tarsarion:
Tarsarion will be located on a separate continent.  Peridot is currently the Sharif, though the city is not available yet.

People of Cardea:

The people of Cardea have organized themselves into three major city-states.  They are the Empire of Nineveh to the south, the forest city of Arboria over Stonetroll Forest, and the Free City of Maine to the north.  Below I have included brief descriptions of the major characters of Cardea, and of anyone who sent me a profile of their character.

This list is for people who have sent me character backgrounds.  Please feel free to e-mail your backgrounds to me at direwolfx@mindspring.com.
