Our squad was formed on November 16, 1998.  The original members were Boings and Huntn-.  The original name was flipmode squad.  Because not many people wanted in, the squadron was temporarily disbanded.  Huntn- went on to other things, but Boings persisted.  His next attempt was more successful.  Tropical Lightning is still a young squadron, but we are starting to make an impact in the WarBirds Air Combat Arena.  Some of our members are also active in the Dawn of Aces Main Arena.

WarBirds 2.6 is a multiplayer, online-only World War II flight simulation game published by Interactive Magic that is regarded by many as the best game of its type in the world today.  Several hundred players can battle each other simultaneously in any one of 57 different authentically modelled, highly-realistic vintage fighter and bomber aircraft while flying for one of four "countries" over simulated, 3D-enhanced European or Pacific theater terrain.  WarBirds features unparalleled realism in an online flight sim (the flight models are derived from actual declassified World War II-era data), and is highly addicting to say the least.  Interactive Magic is constantly updating the game with new features, including additional aircraft and enhanced strategic components.  If you love simulation games and/or vintage planes, you'll love WarBirds.

Dawn of Aces is Interactive Magic's newest online flight sim, devoted to recreating the nascent aerial combat of the First World War.  Modelling nine classic fighters (plus the LZ30 Zeppelin) from that conflict with the same attention to detail and realism shown in WarBirds, DOA allows hundreds of players to duke it out in the skies over France circa 1917.  DOA is presently in Beta test phase, so you can play for free without an Interactive Magic account.  Uncle Boings says try it out!
